OK, I need to know the rules.

Since I had two warnings I got banned for a month. Is the slate clean now, so I can get two more warnings before I am banned again?

Also Susan, it does not good to send PM's when somebody is banned. When I was banned for 24 hours, you sent one warning then another right after it to ban me. I was able to read neither one before my ban, then I obviously couldn't because I was locked out of the forum.

Your last PM stating I was banned really put me in line since I didn't read it for one month. You must know this. Do you do that just to create some psychological closure for yourself?

Re the PMs: That is simply how the system works. Please refrain from making personal comments.

What would happen to a repeat offender? I don't know. It hasn't happened yet. The mods would discuss the matter and come to a conclusion.

Chris, do these lines from the post by CN about the 3-sytike system answer your question ?

When returning from a 1 month ban, the member will still carry 2 strikes for the month, meaning any further poor behaviour that month will earn a new 1 month suspension.

The aim of the strikes is not to ban, but to curb behaviour. If someone comes back and continues as if nothing had happened, the person doing it obviously hasn't got the message yet, so will be given further reflection time, rather than a clean slate that would allow 2 additional transgression without much penalties attached. It is not fair that a 3rd-time offender would face far worse than the someone nudging up their 4th or even 5th...

Mods have some discretion in this, and that discretion can amend "additional time out" in both directions, depending on the situation.

So far we have not had to deal with immediate re-offending from our regular posters. We hope it stays that way, for all involved.

OK, that's cool.

BTW, I am really disappointed that no leniency was given to me since I was isolated in a country where I could not get alcohol. I told you this by PM.

All is well now. I am home.

Sounds like a great idea.

I am not sure why you think we wouldn't welcome or endorse this. The only thing we keep stopping are posts and threads which are fishing for the worst/most-disliked posters here, and you are clearly flagging that that isn't the stuff you are after. Emphasising the positive, a lighthearted end of the year wrap-up, we're all for that. Post away Craig.

I'm still looking forward to that thread being revived. It would be such a close race. So many terrible users on these boards.

The only thing you guys allow are topics like: "who usually produces the most insightful posts" and "who's posts are generally the highest in quality". Both of these categories would be won by yours truly. Those are not exciting topics, they're mere reflections of the manifest consensus on this forum.

So there you have it! Best second place forum member awards!

Serious question to the powers that be - does the General forum really have to turn into a playground for juvenile narcisists? The last couple of new topics are beyond the pale, imho.

Which General forum? There are a number of them. Do you mean the Cafe?

That's true, and heaven forbid that you should all be as old as I am! Like I have said before, I like a bit of fun as much as the next person, but a lot of the stuff that 'you youngsters' post here would be better suited to Facebook or somewhere similar (imho, of course);)

That's just sad man, really. It’s slack season, cut us juvenile people some slack...

If you don't want to be confronted with juvenile stuff, then don't go to a friggin' internet forum for crying out loud.

Super ridiculous thread:

Your idea of fun is limited to seventeen syllables and three lines of five, seven and five?

Seriously though. Nobody forces you to read any of that stuff... And before using big words like “narcissist”, learn how to spell them properly. Even ACF knows how to do that (although that's probably because Narcissist his middle name).

no problem. There are limits...

What a terrible elitist attitude. I’ve seen many threads around here that were so boring and highbrow that I wanted to report them, but I didn’t bother. Sadly, I realize that dreariness is glorified around here.

I call it arbitrary.

Lol, the thread you made was beyond pointless and I'm sure you realize that aswell. Plus bashing Amsterhammer for threads that you don't like isnt really classy either.

When did I ever claim to be classy?

In the off season this place has changed into a bore-fest. I encourage everyone to be as juvenile as possible. At least that doesn't depress me like Amsterhammer is doing with his elitist type of behavior, calling everything that doesn't concern politics or half naked women juvenile.

If you're going to call my thread juvenile, then don't call it narcissist. It's either one or the other. If I was serious --> narcissist, if I wasn't --> juvenile. Make your pick. I don't give sh*t. :)
Of course I might also be a juvenile narcissist.

I don't (really) mind my thread being closed, but why on earth would anyone want to report it. It's not offensive, it's just stupid. Hence, mind your own business.

The guy is so baddass. He visited me on the night of 5th december. Thanks man, I appreciate the presents. I never got the slave-thing though. That's totally unacceptable in this day and age.

I'll spare you both barrels because you're really not worth getting myself banned for. The internet is full of forums that don't put up with your kind of constant self-glorifying preening. 'Slack season' is no excuse to be even more juvenile than normal. One can be funny, witty and amusing on the web without publicly stroking one's ego.

Pity that there weren't more people interested in haikus here, a marginally intellectual pursuit that is clearly alien to you but popular on many other forums as an occasional diversion. If you bothered to read any of my supposedly serious posts, you'd know that I have a perfectly well developed sense of humor. I just can't handle ego-maniac spammers. No, I'm not forced to open your stupid topics, but I can't avoid having the irritating and extremely juvenile title staring at me. You pulling me up for a typo is also highly amusing, I enjoyed that.:D

You're calling the man who started BoB out for being "elitist"?:D

I guess dreariness is anything that doesn't have your name on it, huh? You should be very grateful to the mods around here. If you pulled stunts like you do here on any other forum that I write on (or moderate,) you would have been out on your ear long ago. Now, why don't you run along and start up your own 'Boomcie's CN Forum Slack Season Hideout' (or similar) page on Facebook where you can post absolutely anything that pops into your head? That would be a perfect win-win for both of us.

Yeah, because I do that all the time. I was clearly going along with a trend of glorifying oneself in a jesting manner. Don't go about making false claims, because that's just lame.

+I usually stroke my ego in private, thank you.

How could the phenomenon be alien to me? I have had an education of 18 friggin’ years and was confronted with that rubbish on numerous occasions. Don't try to depict haikus as exclusively known to intellectuals, they’re pretty common and I rarely enjoy them. But hey, that’s just me. I guess I’m not an intellectual now.

People who say they have a good sense of humor are the worst. Narcissism much? Hypocrite.

You're calling the man who started BoB out for being "elitist"?:D

No, I was calling Martin elitist. You’re just sad.
“The man who started BoB”. Please, stop with the self-aggrandizement…

I am not grateful at all. The other forums you write on are probably too lame for me anyway. I’m not interested in playing bridge or petanque.
I don’t have Facebook, so I’ll stick around. Thank you

A lot of times I am really amused by/in agreement with the things that each of you have to say. Right now, not so much. Not to say that there is not a certain level of fun in watching a good oldfashioned brawl grow out of someone taking a mild put down seriously.

I would just advice 'those youngsters' to make use of that Community/Social Groups features, to have their regular self-frankincensing sessions.

Brilliant idea, isn't it.

Got to say I am with Boomcie on this one.

I am a certified genius, my mum had me tested and everything, and i get no enjoyment at all from haikus.

I have to admit i do not really get the self congratulatory / mutual back slapping threads but being a certified genius i find it very easy to ignore them, along with any poetry threads. and reserve all my ego stroking to the BoB thread.

more importantly wtf is going on with that sinterklaas thing. Makes Hey Hey its saturday look PC.
