Mods, can one of you address my question? Thanks.

You should be so lucky. Avoiding answering direct questions has been elevated to an art form by one mod in particular.

So please don't accuse us of not doing our jobs or being bad mods (at least based on that!)

Susan

I'll accuse the 'mod team' of being a shambles by way of Susan's quote. The prevarication, indecision, arbitrary decisions, the censorship by one man, the inaction against trolling, and the plain lack of common sense, displayed particularly (though not exclusively) in the last 48 hours, would be laughable were it not all so abjectly pathetic. That's not even mentioning the admin whose PMs read like the product of a semi-literate sausage. Susan, and one or two others, at least know how to write English. The lot of you, with one or two notable exceptions, really should be thoroughly ashamed. One mod removes something, another reinstates it. Twice over. Unbelievable.

Are you kidding? Or course LA posts here. That's a given.

FYI I am not asking if LA posts here. I am asking a general question about what is tolerable.

What got me to thinking was when Mark wrote Betsy Andreu was a harpy. It was like kicking an antbed with the screeching in here, and I bet he got reported. I doubt very seriously the mod team would allow her to be attacked with ad hominems for long if it continued.

But, LA gets called everything in the book. When is it ok to call names? That is all I am asking.

In the future, you don't need to feel compelled to reply to a post of mine in the mod thread, addressed to the mods. Thanks.

Is "thinking" codeword for trolling'?
As for 'kicking an antbed' - I was the only poster who responded. So...

I doubt Marks post got reported as the comment was allowed stay.
Anyway, who would report it? Its one of his better posts - as it shows his true colors.

So do other people - Ullrich, LeMond, Contador, Wiggins etc

Of course it would be different if Lance revealed his username(s) and then normal rules of not insulting posters would apply.

How ironic.

Replace "celebrity" with "political figure" and you are one of the worst offenders on this board.

As far as being a mod here goes, don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. If you think you could do a better job than those of us that volunteer our free time trying to deal with all the spam, insults, baiting, and rule breaking in hundreds of threads and thousands of posts, volunteer to join us.

You don't know the answer from experience? Scott seems to understand.

If you find posts insulting, please report them. If Lance (or anyone else famous) is on here and finds posts about him insulting, he can report them as well.

NO you can't be a mod, you have exhibited way to much Lance love in the past. No chance of impartiality with you.
Bummer dude.;)
Seriously who knows what you really think? You spend your time here prevaricating. What the f.....?:D

Menchov is the greatest cyclist in the world, and Cadel is a close second right now, with AS at a very close 3rd(AS will be #1 if his time trialing ever improves).

If Menchov wins the TDF this year he can finally prove that he is the greatest cyclist in the world. He just has had a string of bad luck in the Tour, plus he's basically been competing against cheats like Contador, the latest banned cheater.

Quick! Call Mensa! I think I’m on to something!
I must be a genius for having figured this out.

But please mods, no more warnings for me. I understand that pointing out the painfully obvious is frowned upon, but spare me this time. OK?

Oh, and look up too ^^^^ One post above.
Another trend setter hard at work.

FYI I'm sorry I don't pay too much attention to Scott. Should I just PM him and ask questions about moderation of this forum? Or, should I just address questions directly to him in this thread?

Anyway no, I really don't know WTH you guys base your moderating practices upon. Y'all seem to be all over the map. If it was consistent this thread wouldn't be so long.

So, it is not a consistent level of moderation.....it is what the denizens find offensive. That is an interesting method, kinda like a "might makes right" method, though it flies in the face of what mods have said on here in the past. Kinda un-American as well but I digress. Perhaps that is why I struggle with it since I am a real 'murkin from the south.

So, if I go find a thousand posts where LA is called a name and report them, they will be deleted? If not, if somebody goes and slams another poster will their posts be allowed to stay when they are reported?

Of course not, and this is why what you say is BS.

You see Alpe this is where things go off the tracks....inconsistent rules that are prejudiced against the minority posters or others. Just because nobody or few report LA slurs doesn't mean it is ok vs me calling another poster a name that gets 50 complaints right after I hit "submit". A tone is set in here that only one side gets to have fun with.

There are levels of discourse that should be consistent, but since they are not that is where the complaints about moderation come in.

I'm of course not certain, but I think he goes by the name Big Boat.

Liggett knows who butters his bread in the morning. His allegiance to the omerta has been well discussed and documented both here and on many other sites. I have to wonder how Dan made it through that interview without busting up laughing.

Great post.

Also, to those who don't like the moderation, please stop bellyaching!

If you don't like it, find another pastime. You're free to do that.;)

Ah, good advice. Perhaps I should go to something unmoderated like twitter. Watch out for that, though. A pretty energetic CN poster actually got banned from attacking mods and other CN people on twitter. So anybody thinking of doing that should watch out. ;)

He got banned on the forum, then got a longer ban for harrasing cn writers on twitter over the incident and comparing the moderation team to the German National Socialist party.

Yeah, just trying to help. I noticed that you get banned a lot and didn't really see the need for the tension. BTW, who wastes time on twitter? Aren't these forums enough of a distraction...

You're on twitter too?

Evidently this guy made quite an impact....

I saw an episode on Seinfeld in which Jerry, Elaine, and George, referred to a lunatic serving soup as "the Soup Nazi." Maybe ChrisE saw that one and he might want to call the moderators "posting Nazi's?" He is getting in a lot of turmoil with the volunteers here. All in good fun!

I'd be remiss if I didn't express my appreciation to those who volunteer to moderate the forums. Thank you...

I was once asked on twitter by a cycling fan why I keep getting banned from the CN forums. I forget what I replied with.

I should have told them that I was fired from my JOB because I had occupied my office space. I was with the 99% so my company decided to make it official. I went on a 2 day bender and it ended with me getting banned for making inappropriate and sexist comments on CN forums. (Also I think my company did not like me taking the recycling items and dumping them in the Bayou behind my office????) who knew??
Anywho be careful with twitter…..and CN
