A prime example of why mods should start banning these busy-bodies who report everything. This is freakin' ridiculous.

Why? Not everybody knows every single English expression. When I translate a dutch expression into English, would you understand it? No, you wouldn't, even though it's English and you should be able to understand English. Think about that before attacking someone.

Seriously someone was reported and then banned for the use of Crash and Burn? LMAO

You guys seriously had no idea what crash and burn phrase was?

Sometimes it is just plain WEAKsauce.

You have to admit - crash and burn IS idiomatic. It is common use in the US - but might not even have the same understanding in GB or Oz.

And for those for whom English is a 2nd language, and US language at that, crash and burn is common idiomatic usage for "fail". Hopefully spectacularly (Jic that hasn't already been made abundantly clear - in which case my apologies for not reading every post)

Cheers!

Well crash and burn isn't exactly an obscure expression as it is used pretty often on movies and stuff

The fact that the mod who pointed out the correct meaning of the expression to the other mods doesn't come from an english speaking country says it all ;)

By the way the fact that the other mods apparently didn't know the expression says even more I guess:confused::)

Thanks on the info. Yes I even thought about the US language definitions when compared to real English language.

Anyhow it just appears to me that some of these issues within the threads have turned into "Barney".

It has nothing to do with your command of the English language, but everything to do with you having a hissy fit at any apparent slight or criticism against Contador.

The problem is the mods have created an environment where people try to prevent criticism of their favorite rider by turning each other in using stupid rules that should not exist in the first place.

Pretty sad, native English speakers making fun of a non-native speaker because said person hasn't heard of the expression "crash and burn" before.

Wishing for a rider to crash is not allowed on this forum so I am well within my rights to report posts that contain such wishes. I was wrong this time. I already apologized. But don't let this stop you from making fun of me.

People? I'm a person. Is that directed at me?

Duly reported.

You could always try it out with the risk of a ban ;)

The whole point is to push it as far as you can without the ban. A troll has failed at the first ban.

I've read this a few times and I'm still not sure what you mean (yep dense mod alert). If it's the bold and I am getting it, it really isn't as bad as you may think. Yes there are a fair number of complaints but most are not about posts against their favourite rider(s) per se.

Damn! I missed my awesome screen shot of forum domination.

Good work mods. :D

(If you missed, then you missed it. Fun while it lasted.)

Trying to smooth things over here. I don't think anyone was making fun of you LaFlo. I hope not . It's an American phrase that has crept into the English language over the years.

It's a pretty innocent expression.

Think less this...

maybe? poster of 'crash and burn' should consider that it's perhaps not the best phrase to use when talking about a cyclist
