Fair enough there is no reason to mix cycling and that 'other stuff'. So... Gino Bartali, what a hero eh? Actually, lets skip that. So why is Paris Roubaix called the Hell of the Nor... Actually, lets skip that as well.Susan Westemeyer said:Listen folks. This is a cycling forum. How about we stick to that and leave the other stuff?
Hugh Januss said:We should never mention the name of anyone who has done really bad things, here is a partial list:
Hitler
Tedd Bundy
Shimon Perez
Hassan Nasrallah
Ayatollah Khomeini
George Bush (probably both)
George Wallace
Nixon
Johnson
Chang Kai Shek
OJ Simpson
Mao Zedong
Any "freedom fighter" anywhere in the world who is someone else's "terrorist".
Anyone who has murdered someone for fun or profit.
The less we mention them the less able we will be to recognize the next ones who come along.
If a forum says don't mention a particular one then fair enough I suppose, let's all save a lot of time and make it against the rules to mention Contador, Armstrong, Froome, Wiggens, Landis, and Ullrich as well.

Hugh Januss said:Really? So relatively well thought out posts are erased just because they included the word .........Hitler......... Oh my ****ing god how could anyone use that word in any "polite" conversation? You guys are so ****ed up you don't even know which end is up.

Netserk said:Why was my on topic post about the café deleted? It was a direct question to the mods, and it didn't have anything to do with Hitler.
Afrank said:Hog and Ebandit, stop with the back and forth bickering.
As for posts on Hitler, a number of posts were deleted for being off topic. And I feel people are missing the point completely. A discussion on Hitler has absolutely nothing to do with this thread or most other parts of the forum. What is there to discuss anyway? How a picture with Cancellara blurry in the background makes it look like he has a Hitler mustache? Sorry, but such a discussion would be idiotic. We are in no way trying to stop discussions about certain people or not allow it. But if that discussion is pointless, off topic, offensive, or just plain stupid, we are perfectly in the right to stop the discussion on it.
How about this, if you have something to discuss on a person such as Hitler, then it must be done in the cafe. It can't be off topic, insult other members or be offensive to anyone in anyway, needs to be and intelligent conversation, and can't be something as stupid as making lame jokes and posting pictures of things that look like Hitler.
This whole thing arose from first a member being told to remove a signature that mocked another member, then that eventually lead to them insulting Susan (in a very offensive way both to her and German people in general I might add). My word of advice (it was exactly that, a word of advice, wasn't speaking from a mod point of view) to stop, was not about stopping all discussion on certain people from history. I believe if you read back through the posts before mine most will be able to tell what I was talking about stopping. And Susan's warning was in order to get people on topic and avoid pages and pages of Hitler pictures.
And that will be all I have to say on this matter. From here on out stick to the topic of the thread. I'm going to be keeping an eye on this thread and any more off topic posts will not be tolerated.
