Hey, even I have to admit that that was some funny sh*t...

And had Lance pulled that sh*t with the REAL capo (Jan Raas... he'd already retired), he would have had his *** kicked in front of the entire peloton, and he would have gone back to his momma, crying.

Are you baiting El Pistolero?

There is a guy who podiumed both in 2010

Come again?

Flanders: Cancellara, Boonen, Gilbert
LBL: Vino, Kolobnev, Valverde

I'm not up on bike history, but I doubt anyone in today's peloton has podiumed in both of these races, even in different years. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I also think the winners of both in 2010 can win the other, if they try which one wont but the other will.

Vino can win Flanders? Serious?

Is there anyone in today's peloton capable of winning both Flanders and LBL? Spartacus, maybe. But he won't.

Maybe Sagan will be able to, but that's quite a huge "maybe." Anyway I do think it speaks more to the specialization of riders and racing in the modern era than anything else. If Argentin raced today I don't think he could win either LBL or Flanders because the top cobbled and Ardenne specialists would stomp all over him in both events IMHO.

I'm shocked this wasn't jumped on yet. Maybe it's a bit telling of the age of posters here...

Lots of interesting comments from the Italian stalion... Not a lot of love for the media-modulated personas of today's stars...

Mind you Gewiss wasn't without their problems.

What do you think of his attitude, and how does his history impact the weight of his attitudes?

Bring it on, Clinicians...

It was another time when Argentin was an active cyclist. EPO wasn't detectable or punishments for doping were not high. I'd like to know how he would behave if he were active nowadays when a small trace of a banned substance (ingested by accident) can ruin your career. And I don't think that Contador has no character or no spine. -- Remember the Tour 2009 when he pradtically had no loyal team and Bruyneel tried everything to make Lance win the Tour. To deal with such a situation you need a lot of spine.

Lance and Johann did everything they could to build Alberto up during the 2009 TdF. Lance, Kloeden and Leipheimer selfessly sacrificied their own chance of victory in the 09 tour, they are just those kind of team players.

Alberto continued building up Alberto. How does he thank Astana, by asking them for a receipt, being caught unclean, blaming the basque, spanish and south americans for his pos. I would call that jelleyfish spine Alberto.

Piti was disqualified due to previous problems. Personally i see Piti as the the 3rd place but officially the podium went to Gilbert.

SO Gilbert podiumed BOTH LBL and Flanders.

Vino can win Flanders? Serious?

Vino definately can win Flanders.

Anyone with the following variety of results

Win Queen stage of the Tour, - as mountainous as it gets

Win LBL, twice- hilly classic which requires attacking.

drag bertie accross the cobbles- good on flat cobbles

podium Moltacino - off road- requires similar strenghts as cobbles

and most importantly

WIN CHAMPS ELYSEE - total flat stage

can win RVV if they put their mind to it.

Hugh Januss, Hugh do know what the authentic champion Argentin is speaking about. The crybaby Contador, wheelgate missed rides, the way (my) champion Lance relates to Alberto and is so so mean Lance no es simpatico es muy enojado etc.etc. The crybaby, if only the Astana will submit the receipt, the beef is from spain, no the Basqueland , no from Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, wait maybe Mexico as 48 out of 50 sides of beef tested in Hermesillo Sonora are contaminated with clen.
Bertos' story was changing every three days there for a while.
No wonder the Capo of Capos, Eddy Merckx said" I only hope I can trust Alberto."
I am getting to know Moreno Argentin a little better and am warming up to him.

What a ***. All tough and acting big ballsy, but he apparently needs reminding he had to ride his career with someone else's hormones.

Hey Moreno, how bad are they shrivelled now?

You still this guy seriously?

My mind long ago subconciously turned flicker into a wonderlance type character. His posts are funny to read. Sometimes their good like that bit about getting run over by Us postal. I mean he calls Armstrong "my lord lance" and talks about Contador being a "cry baby". Not too different from calling Lance "greatness" and Contador "siesta boy" or saying he saw Lemond dope.

Yeah and I kinda like Merckx a little bit but truly funny characters are Rik Van Looy, Roger+Eric De Vlaemink. Now that Felice Gimondi, he is someone serious to respect.
Henny Kuiper just a regular guy but quite a champion. Freddy Maertens, nut-case.

How could Berto relate to any of these characters? Could he measure up to the emphatic Franco-spaniard Ocana in terms of class?

I don't think Argentin knows what Argentin was speaking about, maybe he was just feeling a bit unimportant.
I have to admit I never quite know what to make of you, if you are kidding then you are a comedic genius, if you are serious then I would be surprised if you can dress yourself in the morning without assistance.

I'm with Hitch here. First, I think the same of Flicker. He's harmless and easy to ignore as I see it. If you don't like something he says, move on. He will.

Also agree that Glibert is someone who could maybe, possibly win the Ronde and LBL. Maybe.

Will there ever be another rider who wins both Roubaix and the Tour? And I don't mean the same year, I mean in their career. (Hinault being the last to do so).

Who said I was taking him seriously? Come on is a picture of the "Beer can of fail" a serious response in your books? Flicker plays the forum's Three Stooges to Wonderlance's Marx Brothers.

“A lot of people aren’t hungry for success and they’ve already earned a lot since they were a junior. I suppose things have changed and it’s a different generation that already has everything. That’s why when I watch races there seems to be a total lack of emotion. There aren’t any riders that get you excited these days.”
Cycling-like football- have evolved at the pro-level where the athlete gets access to better couching, contracts, healthcare, advertising etc, due the economical expansion of the sport-which wasn't quite that possible back 20 years ago. as many other legends like Hinault, SRoche, Merckx etc have already expressed before-what lacks nowadays is that sparking emotion brought by the athletes thinking for themselves, instead of being synchronized by a repetitive tactic.

“These days the only thing that seems to matter is the UCI and its business. The sponsors and riders don’t seem have the right to say anything. There’s a fake form of democracy in cycling and no desire to change things. The track is dead and buried and the road is going the same way.”

“The Giro, the Tour and the monumental classics are the races that matter; they’re the history of the sport and get the people out along the roadside to watch them. But the UCI is bringing everything down to a same level. That’s why they went to war with the Giro and Tour organisers.”

“Look how the rules, points and classifications have changed. It’s about income and business. The sponsors bring the cash and pay the riders but can’t have their say. They deserve more respect.”

100% the truth.

The thing I appreciate about Argentin, Merckx, some of the other realists who have ridden bikes is why? Why doesn't someone as talented as Contador delve the killing blow in all the races.

I have never thought about it in the doping aspect. Dope only helps so much.

Being real Contador can win and dominate so many races.

What I would like to see with Contador is a never say die take no prisoners swashbuckling Molluken pirate. To see him take on guys like Ricco, Schlecks,Cancellara, Lofquist, Gilbert, he is a true phenomena.

I am truly sorry he is in the snare, I really like seeing top drawer and that is what Contador is.

A man like Contador, he doesn't need friends. That is what I found disturbing about seeing Contador with Riis in the Canarys.
