I don't think Rossi knows how to turn just left for an entire race. :D He's got the leg dangle down though going into turns.

No problem

I quite often park my jet next to my F1 car next to my 40 or so hi-po racing bikes.:(

Looks like an upmarket version of the scene in the great aussie film "The Castle" i.e. " Dont hit the torana while youre backing the boat out with the Camira.":D

Nice Garage - stuff dreams are made of!

Couldn't see the pictures on my work computer, so went hunting around the net and found out that apparently this collection doesn't belong to Fogarty, but to this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSdugjfSQk8 :)

The important question is though, with that many Ducatis in one place, do you reckon they could get enough bits to make one set of working electrics, or would that still be too much to ask???! ;)

With nothing but respect for Stefan Everts and his career, if you're going to bring dirt into the discussion I'd be remiss not to at leaset mention the G.O.A.T....

While he doesn't have the GP palmares of Everts or Rossi, for that matter, but I think it safe to say he dominated in his career.

There is very little head-to-head to compare Everts to Carmichael except for the 2005 Motocross des Nations:

2005 MXdN Results-

Race 1 (MX1/MX2)
Pos # Rider Nat. Fed. Bike
1 101 Carmichael, Ricky USA AMA Suzuki
2 19 Coppins, Joshua NZL MNZ Honda
3 7 Pichon, Mickael FRA FFM Honda
4 10 Leok, Tanel EST MUL Kawasaki

5 1 Everts, Stefan BEL FMB Yamaha

Race 3 (MX1/Open)
Pos # Rider Nat. Fed. Bike
1 101 Carmichael, Ricky USA AMA Suzuki
2 21 Townley, Ben NZL MNZ KTM
3 103 Windham, Kevin USA AMA Honda
4 19 Coppins, Joshua NZL MNZ Honda
5 7 Pichon, Mickael FRA FFM Honda
6 4 de Reuver, Marc NED KNMV KTM
7 9 Vuillemin, David FRA FFM Yamaha
8 3 Strijbos, Kevin BEL KNMV Suzuki

9 1 Everts, Stefan BEL FMB Yamaha

He was also won the MXdN in 2000 and 2007 but not head-to-head against Everts. 2006 would have been another head-to-head had Carmichael not been injured.

The G.O.A.T had three perfect seasons, two of which were outdoors on the big bikes. 24 for 24 motos won.

In '07, while starting up his stockcar career, he entered limited races. He won every outdoor race he entered that year.

I make take a little heat for this but I have to throw his name in there for at least an "Honorable Mention" :D

Stefan's dad Harry was a world champion too. The reality of Motocross is if you don't win in the States then you are not racing the best in the world. In the heyday of Roger DeCoster and even as late as the early to mid 1980's, being the World Champion meant something. But since then the best in the world race in the US. There are at least 3 guys racing in the US during Stefan's time that would beat him like a drum.

Carmichael
Stewart
Reed (an Aussie)

Then there are a host guys like Mike LaRocco, Tim Ferry, Kevin Windham and others that would probably beat Stefan 50% of the time.

He's a good rider (Everts), but he's no Rossi.

Sunday was a jam packed tv session for me. First Roubaix, then the season opener of Moto GP under the lights at Qatar.

Question: How many times has Casey Stoner crashed out of the lead with Rossi right behind? I don't think I can count that on one hand anymore. Is Rossi that much of a psyche out to Stoner? I realize he's still really young, but c'mon, you'd think he'd get over it and believe in his abilities.

Something else about this season that I kind of have mixed feelings about is the new Moto 2 class. I really don't mind the departure of the 250cc class, and having 600cc in the middle makes more sense to me. What I can't get my head around is that all the Moto 2 bikes are Honda powered. I really don't see the logic in this when Moto 2 was set up to get riders better prepared for the GP class where all mfg's are represented. Moto GP's reasoning for setting up Moto 2 this way is a cost cutting measure, but the riders are not going to learn anything about dealing with the idiosyncrasies between mfg's if all are using the same power plant. I do like 600cc bikes though, not as slow as the 250's at the top end and corner speed is more on par with the 800cc GP bikes.

I'm too old. I want 2 strokes and castor bean oil or it's not a GP bike. lawn mowers and Harley's are 4 strokes, proper GP race bikes are 2 strokes. god I love the smell of castor bean oil in the morning

If Rossi had any doubts on the track he would never be a champion

He's human; everyone has doubts.

He has more confidence and patience than everyone else.

He uses his head much like the best champions in every other sport.

edit:

yes, you're right.

Krebs, are you getting Moto GP coverage in Baja? Just watched the 125cc race and the Spaniards took the top 4 spots, 5 of 7 from the leading group. What a smashing race! 2 strokes ain't no joke, even in those minibikes.

I got Dish Network so I get Speed Channel. Used to get Versus but after last years ToC they started charging extra for it. Since over the air went digital I no longer get the local San Diego broadcasts. But other than Top Gear and Mythbusters I watch little TV

I always enjoyed 125gp more than 250gp when we were racing

here's a shot at Ontario early 70's, 4 leading shoe front brake TD250 with yours truly

Ghost Rider. Nice tribute.

This whole time I've been digging though old photos trying to find that one pic I have racing my YZ 100, great action shot. Not finding it now dang it, you'll see it when I do.

Crapola! Can't find it, think it's at my mom's house. Cool pic too, ripping through a berm, little bit of roost, and the leg dangle with perfect form for a 14 year old.

Damn Spaniards took all three races in France today and are now leading the three categories. Wondering what kind of fuel they're riding on :D

Did you see Lorenzo's celebration? Lawnchair, popcorn and a soda in front of the big screen. Hilarious!!! :D Rossi is going to have to pull a win out soon so he can upstage that one from his teammate. Kudos to the Spaniards, they're tearing it up this year.
