I have done this road a few times as part of bicycle races and also a road called La Rumorosa. Both very dangerous for similar and different reasons. Your example is a road that leads to some great, great camping and hunting spots. The video shows the road closed but when it's open it has some unique characteristics.. Cattle, sheep, goats, horses, pigs( javelina) which even from a distance are like a large traveling urine scented air freshener.. Stinky... all typically either standing in the road or crossing it..the aggregate of the road is very coarse they use bigger stones when paving the road. Depending on the time of year and amount of rainfall , small to medium landslide looking things can be on the road..same with roads leading to Laguna Hanson
I love this entire area and much of the forests in Mexico are in near virgin condition, many with paths and no roads, horses, hiking, two wheels but no cars and fat side by sides are hit or miss.

You can ride bigger bikes out in Baja but you stray off road at your own risk..
There are a bunch of off road videos that show people crashing.. Mike's Sky Ranch is a must visit. But weather effects are always something you need to consider.. Rare deeper snow covers stuff like ruts and rocks, you crash.. Rain, snow and seasonal water create water crossings that will have variety of fat slippery rocks, or water deep enough, fast enough to knock you down, you crash. There is one thing about Baja, if you come to an obstacle and say or think, maybe if I just look around there is an easier way.. You are wrong, you are going to crash..

This woman makes some great motorcycle videos. Copper Canyon adventure rides can be done slightly differently, all the roads that were used to build railroad and maintain it are sort of available . sometimes you need to ride the train tracks for a few minutes.. It's sort of scary to think about getting run over but it's worth it. And there are often pools of water that are couple of few feet deep. When you camp from the bike it's nice to either just sit in cool, crystal clear water or clean yourself up after hours or days. All the little villages are like a welcoming oasis, soda, beer, food, a rare hotel, if you ask to camp, answer is always yes. Many small places stockpile gasoline, you can buy it and it's usually @50 cents to a dollar more a gallon, but because most motorcycles don't use or carry more than @6 gallons it's not a big deal. There is a phenomenon that happens after hours of getting beat up on the motorcycle, the food or beer you have immediately after getting off the seat tastes as good as anything you have ever enjoyed. Even a wooden or concrete bench feels great after the motorcycle seat and riding gear.

Seeing as the road is a tad rough how would the kiddie motorcyles jmd had posted the other day fare? They look like they have pretty fat tires and obviously they don't go very fast, though for a motorcycle I think 50mph is aplenty!
I don't know the demographics for sure but Chinese and major Japanese manufacturers all make mini motorcycles, made more popular by Honda Grom. The Grom and others have a bunch of basic engineering genius. Use bulletproof engines that produce enough everything to make bikes fun to ride for everyone including adults. Bikes have many psychological problems with the design. Like you, the designs come off as fun, childlike, harmless.. But the power to weight ratio is great. Bikes can do almost everything and go pretty fast. The price point for almost all the bikes is attractive to parents and younger riders. Motorcycles have sort of cult within a cult within another cult. These little motorcycles have a huge following which includes a cult of people who heavily modify the bikes to go ridiculously, dangerous fast. There are aftermarket, bolt on modifications that have these little bikes with big bike horsepower and performance. The tire size has been around for a long time so everything from go to school or grocery tires to track level racing tires are available.

One thing that is super cool to see with many mini designs, it's easy to get on and off for older or shorter riders. It's also light enough to be a great, get to it transportation option for RVs, Trailer people, motorhome crowd. I think the design is brilliant because it looks fairly simple and not intimidating.

I think that I might have mentioned it in our moto PM: in the '80s a group of us parked in South San Diego (TJ valley?), and then played on Baja. It was a blast! Most of us were on 250 two stroke race bikes. Gas was the issue because those bikes have small fuel capacity, and the quality of gas that we were buying was not making those high strung race bikes run too great.

I just love the look of the unmodified Grom and its capabilities (honestly wouldn't want anything faster or more powerful as a first motorcycle), and the way those guys in the second vid are changing the tires makes me distrust whatever it is they had modified the Grom to!

Evidently the Grom weighs anywhere from 220 to 230 pounds, I think that's still plenty of bike! How much does a typical crotch rocket weigh?

Shaking the tank to get the right ratio is an issue for people who mix themselves. Mexico has opened the market so Mobil, Exxon, AMPM, BP and others have gas stations all over Mexico. Baja is hit and mostly miss, mostly Pemex and rare for what they call premium at a claimed 91( yeah sure) 87 is at most stations. 2 strokes really hate cheap gas and you can try to run a richer mix to avoid some of the heating issues.
San Diego ( Tecate) is still great, Mexican border patrol and immigration don't say much to guys in full gear with bikes with no license plates. Same with US Border Patrol, they don't seem to bent out of shape, no plate, no problem, but now with RealID requirements you better have a passport, passport card and or a driver's license that's RealID certified.
All my dirt bikes had a fairly easy to see VIN decal with year, make and model. Because it's a limited group, don't think it's a big thing. I see plenty of trailers parked and folks just ride back and forth. The funny phenomenon is watching people try to park and drink with machines with no kickstand.. Comedy gold seeing how people keep their bike upright during tacos, tequila and beer part of the motorcycle ride.
Guys ride 2 strokes all the way down and also do workable trips to Ojos Negros or Ensenada from TJ or Tecate. Lots of places in both towns and others have decent plastic milk crates or the ultra quality old school metal milk crates that perfectly support a motorcycle. All the places in the middle of nowhere with artisan cheese, olives, wine, bread and meats are cool destinations.
Groups from Arizona, Nevada, California will have a follow vehicle, just have a truck with trailer, gas, supplies to rendezvous at designated spot.
GPS is a super cool feature for bicycle, motorcycle enthusiasts. I have given people coordinates of places I partied or camped. We all can experience something cool and randomly discovered, just using cell phone..

No John Muir quote, something less profound..

There are hundreds if not more videos and stories about the Honda 90 and it's family tree including the cub. The motor you see here has had some minor tweaks but really itit's nearly made the same in 2026 motorcycles. Some things to keep in mind, places like China have planned obsolescence ..I think it's 6 years, but after 6 years you can't register your bike, need a new one. The Honda motor has been copied by hundreds of companies.. It's simple and bullet proof
The Dirt post has a CF motorcycle that uses a similar design.
