Great choice. If re-watchability (is that a word?) is a criteria, Memento places high on the list.

if its not a word it is now.. :D weve seen it about three times, but never yet got around to watching the "hidden" backwards, or is it forwards, version..

Nor have I. In all honesty I question if watching it "forwards" would really shed any light.

yeah, watchability. no spell check for it, but a good word.
guilty pleasures are many "fast times at ridgemont high"
"the princess bride"
"it's a mad,mad,mad,mad,mad world"
"this is spinal tap"

If you get a chance to watch Ben Hur, you won't regret it. Makes most movies look like the complete pile of poo they are.

*disclaimer*
I am not old, it's just a great film.

Talk about over-sensitivity, falsity and hypocricy and worrying about all the crapola that normal people throughout the universe couldn't care less about. And what horrible coffee!

The retro-black-and-white style and the shot framing made an otherwise mundane exchange a commentary on mass cultural neurosis.

When i lived in England i had Welsh roommates so when i was asked to name my favourite movie of all time i said i had two,
How Green Was my Valley
and
Zulu
:D
actually they are great movies, but for a manly double feature watch Zulu Dawn followed by Zulu.

guilty pleasure= Nightshift. Michael Keaton's big screen debut. not as good as spinal tap but quite a few good lines,

most underrated movie = Pacific Heights

Wow!! I see a lot of movies I have never heard of...I don't watch too much TV or movies, but I guess I have a couple favorites. I really like Steve Mcqueen...Bullitt, The Great Escape, and even Jr. Bonner. Bonner is not a good movie by any stretch..but I still like it. I also like Eastwood movies...I don't have a favorite but if he is in it I will watch it. I remember watching Star Wars when I was young...and being totally amazed...always wanted to have the force with me!! I remember watching The Sleeper with my dad and laughing my rear off...but saw it recently and was not as impressed...go figure. Lastly, one movie that I will watch multiple times and have is The Sting. Redford and Newman make the perfect team.

worst Jarmusch film. His best is Mystery Train. Do love his music composition, always hits the spot.

Ya I have to say not his best but I love tom waits. Down by law is my fav,,, from Jim anyway.

Almost any film by Terry Gilliam

I can't stand happy endings or predictable endings. Pretty much anything made in hollwood falls in here but there are a few gems.

Really too many to list.

Office Space

God it feels good to be a gangsta...

For sure this one falls in the top 3 (or higher?) Most Quotable category...which I love, but for some reason, it only annoys my wife :D

"PC Load Letter"? What the f*ck does that mean?"

Nobody has mentioned Raising Arizona? Okay, Raising Arizona. I win.

I am a film freak. Have to say that many of my favorites are pretty depressing ones though: Requiem for a dream, Leaving Las Vegas, Trainspotting, Choke, Fight Club, Reflecting Skin, Dirty Pretty Things, etc. I always say, give me the Feel Bad Movie of the Year and I am happy.

My list does include many of the films previously discussed (Apocalypse Now, Pulp Fiction, etc) and ones like the Three Colors Trilogy: Red, White, Blue by Krzysztof Kieślowski.

I am one of those people who has seen WAY too many movies to pick just one though.

Yeah! Anything Coen bros. touch is gold. Can't wait to see A Serious Man. Joel and Ethan grew up only about 20 minutes away from where I'm at.

Wondering if there should be a more general Cinema thread that has more parameters that just "Best"?
