Manic Street Preachers - Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky

(everything must go = britpop with actually good lyrics/music.)

Also, I note earlier in this thread discussions of 'Lola', a song I love so much that I named my puppy (who is unquestionably a girl, for the record) after it. That makes it hard to listen to it with her in earshot, though.

When you say Lola, do you mean this one by the Kinks?

Indeed I do! (No way in hell I'm admitting to knowing a Barry Manilow song :D.) I rate Ray Davies as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, both for the observational-social stuff like 'Lola' and 'Dead End Street' (so obviously ripped off by the Clash...) and the beautiful personal stuff like 'Waterloo Sunset' and 'Days'. His lyrics are so innocent and so mundane that they're really unlike anything else in pop music. It's really just as well they never cracked America, I've always thought.

Well, in that case shouldn't your dog, Lola, be a boy and have a hint of stubble? :D

It's a messed up, muddled up, shook up world - except for Lola :D
That it is. (Btw, Lola has always been a favorite of mine, too, but it's been awhile since I've heard it so thanks for mentioning it.)
