Indeed I do! (No way in hell I'm admitting to knowing a Barry Manilow song .) I rate Ray Davies as one of the greatest songwriters of all time, both for the observational-social stuff like 'Lola' and 'Dead End Street' (so obviously ripped off by the Clash...) and the beautiful personal stuff like 'Waterloo Sunset' and 'Days'. His lyrics are so innocent and so mundane that they're really unlike anything else in pop music. It's really just as well they never cracked America, I've always thought.
