I was hooked on Howard Jones in my Middle School and High School days.

Did you grow one of those "tails" in the back of your hair back in the 80s? I kept my hair short, but I did grow a tail. lol! (Had made some other questionable fashion choices back then, but at least I never wore neon or wore some of those ghastly surfer pants, or whatever you would call them.)

Or you can take it in pragmatic terms, my mother, a bit of a fashion plate, had appearances to maintain and would not . outlay for those ridiculous things. Spending money on clothing wasn't on my agenda. Surf, skate hooded gear had a functional application that could be justified.
