thanks to all who post and discuss classical music.
while oriental and indian classical music is super pleasing to my ear,
i lack the connection to 'real classical music', and i'm looking for an entrance for a long time.
maybe you have to grow up with?

but please don't suggest choir singing, i tried this in the past. the power of a big choir is fantastic, but at home, i'd prefer listening to a russian male choir, or maybe gospel, over the masses and requiems we had there.

Thanks for the Stina Nordenstam and I just love Nick Drake. I find myself listening more to Asian music more as I get older. I've found in the past that if I initially find something interesting, but am not sure if I like it on first listening, I normally love it after a few listens. In that way, my taste has expanded.

Sorry for the choir singing . But if you like Russian music then maybe a bit of Grechaninov :)? (it's a Bulgarian choir though) :(

Edit: The 9 inch nails video was very atmospheric

Well, The Boss' Promise didn't live up to the expectations, at least not mine, but in a year it has grown on me. It's no Darkness' long lost twin brother alright, but has many decent songs. And at least they are sung in a slightly less over the top manner than the ones on Darkness (the album's main fault IMO, cf. Adam Raised a Cain).

Rendezvous

And, obviously, Patti Smith's Because the Night is the better version.

Hmm, guess I'll end up watc... listening to Blondie now that I got started.

I remember seeing "Ghosts" on Top of the Pops and being astounded that anything like that could be in the top 10. Beautiful and haunting.

Here's a short snippet of some more recent David Sylvian

Yeah i think that was Japan's biggest hit on the back of that performance, I saw it too and it blew me away - I'd never seen anything like that before.
great track.

Japan were one of the rare groups that got better and better as they went on for me.
