Pandora's now playing My Bloody Valentine. Pandora is BAFFLED. I've made liberal use of the thumbs up/down feature. But that's some musical latitude! From Beck to My Bloody Valentine. Really?

i think they have some kind of 'arrangement' with that band. pretty generic
crap, no offense. they show up on my channels too. poop. pandora is far from
perfect for sure.

Doubt that there's an "arrangement". They went from "Sexx Laws" to shoegazer tunes? Pandora's like a Ginzu knife commercial - 'But wait! There's more!' - but what they offer you don't really need or want. Now it's sit back and wait time for a song from Phish; a perfect musical segue.

Beck will be Pandora's downfall. OMG, now it's Dave Matthews. I'm in pain.

i have used pandora for about 2 years. they are very good at linking what YOU like in a stream. they do not get anything from Myspace. you do need to pay attention to the songs you hear. if you do or do not like a song, use the thumbs up/down button and it remembers your choice. they will sneak things in to try and see if you like it. they are trying to sell stuff, so they will do that. all the music pandora uses is available for purchase.

I understand the concept, but I was wondering where they get the music from. I could be mistaken, but it seemed as if Pandora streamed songs that were already available on myspace. In a sequence for example I got a number of songs from a band, and those were the same songs the band offered on Myspace.

Pandora is a great site. Loyal to its name, too, since you never know what is going to come out of the box. "Surprise!" I'm still preyty loyal to imeem.com. You can't download the song (I think) but you can get specific songs and artists.
I like Beck, too, only... don't listen to "Loser" before racing!

the have licensing agreements with those bands. the bands themselves push
to get added to the pandora stream. the performing rights organizations get
involved there. not on myspace, unless you are selling product. pandora get music many sources. not everybody uses myspace. my "beethoven" channel
is drawing from current and old recordings alike.

I just heard Great Pretender by Freddy Mercury, on the radio. Great version of that song.

Also this weekend I listened to some Beatles, and was struck by these words:

There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

Buy the album Golden Rule by Powderfinger. The boys from brissie are back. They are australia's best band over at least the past 15-20 years.
For Aussies, the album has come out today but for internationals you can buy the album over the net or on Itunes

We just downloaded the new Robbie Williams CD. It is different from what I expected, and I like it a lot.

Susan

Why is Robbie Williams such a juggernaut in Europe, but in the US you might find 10 people total that have heard of him?
