@b, no it's original.

all due respect to anyone and everyone, los lobos is not an oeuvre I really know. It filled a niche for the neolib latte set as I felt it.

...ok, kidding aside....too bad about the latte association....I stand accused of damning "good" bands for somewhat similar reasons....that being said, have had the pleasure of being in their company and a nicer socially aware group of guys would be very hard to find....and am a sucker for well played Americana ( don't know what else to call it )....and these guys can really play, individually, and especially as a unit, and write with some innovation and flair, even within the very tight confines of what are essentially pop genres....in fact at their best they come real close to Chuck Berry pop perfection ( am also a sucker for simpler art forms...in fact, if hard pressed, would call my entire collection , a collection of folk music in one form or other...and pop being one of those folk thingees....)

....maybe not for everyone's taste.....but for me one of the bands that helped save a very miserable 80's/90's music scene from being a total washout....they didn't push you hard but were very capable of surprising you....

Cheers

I'm aware of all those aspects to them, but especially back then, that wasn't going to fly. I can't intellectualize music and come around to it. Plenty of good things in th 80s/90s Goind dark angry and dissonant helped. I know the geezers weaned on the 60s and 70s often lost their way.

Blur - Song 2

Cheers

Sad to see you parodically linking Blur with the heinous Green Day and even Nirvana. What next? Shiny Happy People.

Of Nirvana and the 90s, they played the NY coliseum at their height ( maybe 2000 people @ Columbus Circle adjacent Trump Tower) and Kurt turned away Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and maybe Moss, backstage, leaving them to wander disconsolately through the crowd unescorted. It was impressive.

Think you'd see that now?

Of Nirvana and the 90s, they played a couple thousand head space, the NY coliseum at their height (adjacent Trump Tower) and Kurt turned away Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and maybe Moss, backstage, leaving them to wander disconsolately through the crowd unescorted. It was impressive.
