Eminem? you've lost all my respect!;)

Well, I'm flattered. That means I must have had some respecto. :D

On a more serious note, what I like about 'Till I Collapse' by Eminem is I've personalized my own theme to the song, rather than take Eminem's theme. My theme is if I have a dream, pursue it with all I've got until I collapse. Anyone can take that theme and apply it to whatever they love doing. Eminem's 'Sing for the Moment' kind of reminds me of that too since that song was done to Aerosmith's 'Dream On'.

Besides, those songs by Eminem just sound kind of cool. I have to say he has got a real talent for taking the language and changing pronunciations to get they rhyme he's after.

Eminem is the only rapper I like*. There might be some nostalgia involved, but I don't think that's the main reason.

*Joke bands and some minimal amounts of Beastie Boys aside.

Eminem has w/o any doubt made the best rap music imo... But there are other good songs as well by Tupac, Coolio, Biggie, 50 Cent and the Game together..
and honestly, for some very strange reason, I like this song as well :p

well what is the reason then? that he's the only white trash rapper to go platinum?

Of course going platinum helped, since I don't actually listen to hip hop so I wouldn't even have heard of him otherwise. But the thing is, I like his voice, which is higher than most rappers', especially mainstream black ones. He's also a lot sillier than most mainstream hip hop, which helps immensely because I can't take hip hop seriously.

At the moment I'm listening to Kathleen Edwards' album Back to Me. Edwards is, in my opinion, one of the most consistently great female songwriters of the past decade and a natural heiress to Lucinda Williams' americana throne. Here's one track from each of her albums, and there's even a fourth record on its way. I'm excited!

I Make the Dough, You Get the Glory: http://youtu.be/1m69S1dfrak (lots of hockey references in this one, for anyone who's in to that kind of thing)

Besides, she's a hard drinking, guitar playing femme fatale who yells and swears at her male bandmates. Obviously, I've got a crush on her :D

yeah. most of the recent pop rap is so so so so so bad. cookie cutter lowest base appeal possible. i think there's good stuff out there though not getting much airtime. although mostly I end up going for the old stuff (golden era, way pre-em).

Which is why Kool Keith rapping about writing songs for Elton John and time travelling alien gynaecologists is so amazing.

Or De La Soul hosting mock game shows mid-song.

Never heard of Adela Diane before but checked her out on Youtube. Fantastic voice. Must get some of her music.

Thanks for that

Your welcome. That's why I think this thread is so awesome; people exchange tips about great music that is out there, somewhere.

I like that band, great song! Is that the latest from the breeding grounds of Belgium?

If I want pointless bombastic grandiloquence I'll listen to Emerson Lake & Palmer, since they were more grandiloquent, more bombastic, and more pointless...

How about this Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (this is a fossil, but tranquillo):
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer – From the beginning

As long as I'm on soothing fossil music:
Crosby, Stills, & Nash – Just a song before I go
Crosby, Stills, & Nash – Our house

And then soothing contemporary:
One Republic - Apologize
Lifehouse – Everything
...like 'em all.
