Bobby jean - Bruce and the E Street

Well I came by your house the other day, your mother said you went away
She said there was nothing that I could have done
There was nothing nobody could say
Me and you weve known each other ever since we were sixteen
I wished I would have known I wished I could have called you
Just to say goodbye bobby jean

Now you hung with me when all the others turned away turned up their noise
We liked the same music we liked the same bands we liked the same clothes
We told each other that we were the wildest, the wildest things wed ever
Seen
Now I wished you would have told me I wished I could have talked to you
Just to say goodbye bobby jean

Now we went walking in the rain talking about the pain from the world we hid
Now there aint nobody nowhere nohow gonna ever understand me the way you did
Maybe you'll be out there on that road somewhere
In some bus or train traveling along
In some motel room therell be a radio playing
And you'll hear me sing this song
Well if you do you'll know Im thinking of you and all the miles in between
And Im just calling one last time not to change your mind
But just to say I miss you baby, good luck goodbye, bobby jean

The Prodigy- Voodoo People(Pendulum remix)

I was really into the prodigy a few years back, there was a period when they were really untouchable and came out with with a succession of storming tracks. The Videos are always entertaining even if your not into the music..

its a decent track and the video just cracks me up... my mum saw this one several years ago and thought that Keith Flint (vocalist) was having a nervous breakdown.

This is still, and will always be, Primal Scream's best moment, back in 1986:

They were at their best when Bobby Gillespie was still the drummer in the Jesus and Mary Chain, they still worshipped the Byrds, and they were still beloved of the same kids that loved Talulah Gosh, the Field Mice, the Pastels and Beat Happening. Then they discovered gospel and Andrew Weatherall production, and it was all ok for a while, but soon afterwards it was all over.

Another cover that might should have been left alone.. I had to inform someone that this was not a Robert Plant song..the reply was kind of like.,.well it probably wasn't cool then..or it is only cool and new now..

i like Plant's version because of the beautiful video ;) why don't you like covers so much?

I just dislike the lack of appreciation for the originals, especially from those who have no idea they even exist. In this era of MP3s "written by" is not anything people ever see..They might like Plant's Darkness Darkness but they'll never never dig in and find "Ridgetop" or "get together" because of it.

OK, point taken, i should have mentioned of the original and will try not to forget about this in future.
In fact i think those who like music would go to google/wikipedia looking for some information about this song and would recognize this is a cover and doing so they'll discover some new music. On the other hand someone who doesn't want to broaden his musical outlook won't ever care about the original no matter how many times this would be mentioned. It works this way, at least i think so.

I guess.. perhaps something that bugs me is a current generation claiming these covers as their generation's music..original new stuff they like that us old un-cool farts know nothing about.
