Every competitive rider is compelled to be an as*hole in the eyes of the opposition once in awhile. That Vuelta beat down was Sky's ultimate team embarrassment. Froome and Co. had no explanation for lazily sitting at the back end of the field when 50 or more guys went berzerk. It was fun to watch.

Indeed, one of my favorite stages ever to watch live.

He could be a good mentor for Pescador in his first pro season.

I'm not too familiar with the 19yr. old Pescador yet, but judging by his stats he appears to be another Colombian mountain goat, so with any luck this will prove beneficial for both of them.

The House of Representatives awarded the Simón Bolívar Order of Democracy, the highest legislative distinction, to cyclist Nairo Quintana for his outstanding career and his contribution to Colombian sport.

It's hard to tell, did he manage to crack a smile? He's done it only about two or three times throughout his career...

Anyone who follows bike racing knows that once you have been on top the only place to go is down. Quintana shows extraordinary grace in fitting in and finding a new place. Guy is good at racing bicycles, appears to be a team player and keeps his ego in check to accomplish something with what he has.. Respect for 34 year old figuring it out, low key style earns him serious props from me, will look forward to seeing what he can contribute

I know it's time, but I'll miss (occasionally and briefly) seeing the legend that is Nairoman in the peloton, and I'll miss seing his name on the startlist.

I remember Quintana being hailed as the future of cycling in 2013, when he already looked 50. He hasn't changed at all since then. Adios legend! It's sad he's never won the Tour.

I enjoy watching a legends ride their bike even if it is for 10th, 20th or 30th. You can see the quality.

One of the riders that peaked and declined very early.

I think the first step backwards was already at the tour 2016.
Everbody thought that could be his tour.

At the vuelta 2016 he was really good but without Contadors help he would not have won that grand tour.

After Giro 2017 he wasnt in the mix for a big win anymore.

At least this year we have seen him active in races again. Attacking and competitive. Unfortunately seems like he does too many races and is over his form curve now.

Still a long season left. Maybe he can get another win in a grand tour stage.

I still don't like the way he won the 2014 Giro (that goes for Nibali's 2016 victory as well), even if he was the strongest rider in the race. He also wasn't exactly unlucky that he got a last ride at WT level (you may very well say he was unfortunate to end up in a situation where his career was in danger though).

I hope he gets some additional decent results this year, and it will always be lovely to see a rider past his prime get one last victory before the final curtain.

Quintana is one of those riders (along with Roglič), that I’m sad never won the Tour — he really deserved one. And on another note, until Quintana (and Urán), I kind of had this impression — maybe just my own bias — that South American riders were a bit more hit-or-miss: one day climbing like gods, the next day completely falling apart, inconsistent and unpredictable. Quintana (and Urán) changed that for me. They were solid, complete riders you could count on. Thank you Nairo.
