I think this is far too speculative at this point to deserve its own thread, but does anyone think that it could even be possible that Contador wins all 3 GTs this year? IMO he could possibly do it, but it would require him dropping all other goals for the season (not hard for him), having no bad luck, anytime, over 9 weeks of total GT racing, and peaking perfectly for each event. Oh and he also needs to avoid being suspended by the CAS :D. Possible? I guess so. Likely? Not at all...

I don't think there's enough daylight between him and e.g. Schleck for him to be able to win the Tour at anything less than his optimum fitness. Giro Tour would be a lot to ask, no matter all 3. I'll still watch, though.

@ royal pig if ac wins giro/tour let alone all 3 I'm certain he is doped to his eyeballs.

Im skeptical he'll even be allowed to ride both, but my prediction is based on the assumption that be will...

Giro;
1. Contador
2. Menchov
3. Anton
4. Scarponi
5. Nibali

Le tour;
1. Schleck
2. Gesink ;)
3. Samu
4. Basso
5. Evans

Agree all three in the same calender year is almost impossible, but? If Contador starts the Giro and Tour then i think he can win both?

With the difficulty of the giro course + the peak riders at thee tour I think the giro/tour double is not going to happen anything soon.. Alternately we can discuss how it can be achieved I'n the clinic maybe ;)

without a single doubt:

giro

1-obviously AC is the one with the best odds.
2-menchov plus 6min
3-anton plus 6min and less than 30seconds
4-scarponi at 7
5-rodriguez at 7 and 1 second lol

tour

1-AC (after recovering and killing andy in the last MTF and ITT)
2-shleck plus 5 seconds (kills himself)
3-basso plus 6 seconds
4-samu plus 1min
5-frank plus 2min

this is clen as weater xD ups, clean.

if ac isnt at the tour, basso is first because shleck dont has contador to help him in the mountains.
5th goes to gesink.

Giro

Contascore
Nibali
Menchov
Scarponi
Anton If Geox are not invited, Scarponi 3 Anton 4 Rodriguez 5

TDF

Evans
Basso
Andy Schleck
VDB
Sanchez I obviously think it's going to be a weird TDF and the Schlecks seem to have a lot of incidents of some kind or other. The stars will align and Evans will finally win one ?

3. Basso

5. VINO
(This is my hello I want to be popular prediction, also my hello I don't care much about getting it right prediction)

Finally! Good to see Vino's not forgotten for a top something (5 or 10). Since most of the top prospects have already been mentioned, I'll withhold my 'hello I want to be stupid' prediction.

I like the top list, the Giro. I think they will all beat Nibali. Sadly Kreuziger has to miss out on that list. I like him more. Only Menchov and Anton have come anywhere near close in recent years to matching AC's numbers in high mountains. Hence I think if they stay upright (a hard task for these two in itself) that they will both be set for a podium.

I like your Tour list as well. Assuming AC races, I thinly hold onto the notion he will beat AS and pick up the double. I also think Evans will beat both Sanchez and Basso. So I'd switch them around and promote Evans to 3rd. I can see Liquigas coming up broke on both GTs. I'd love to see them get two 5th places. Would shut some people up about how great the Liquigas squad are. Either way, they don't win a GT IMO against the stronger riders. Leopard Trek will smack Liquigas all over the shop at the Tour. I fail to see Basso beating Andy Schleck. I can see Evans coming close though. The Tour isn't the Giro, so the steep cols won't work in Basso's favour to gain time. Riding tempo won't drop Andy Schleck or Alberto Contador. I doubt it would drop Franck Schleck. The only upset I can see is Evans at the Tour. Either way AC wins 1 or 2 GT's. If he doesn't AS wins 1 and AC wins 1. Depends on CAS.

Other places. Vino at the Tour. Getting a yellow jersey. Possibility IMO, will probably happen. Gesink and Jurgen VdB dropping down the pecking order seeing Evans and Basso are targetting the Tour and not the Giro/Tour double this season. They'll pay for that in GC placing. Predictions are hard to do...weather, fitness, sickness and crashes throw everything into affray. One thing is clear, AS and AC are the two men to beat by some margin. Only 3, maybe 4 guys can beat them. Samu, Evans, Basso and Menchov. Maybe Anton can mix with these 4. That is it. Till the rest prove it on the road, I won't rate them. That is wrong.

I will save my outrageous TDF predictions for my Kloden thread....

I don't really understand the Wiggins/Gallagher comparison, but for some reason it still made me laugh.
