:DDo Trade Teams urge their best riders to take part on their respective National Championships, or not? Most of the more conspicuous names don't bother, and just take a nap prior to the TdF.....
Not at all. Most of the big names go for it.

Who didn't?

Contador, well he is banned but did it last year and came 2nd. Andy, well he is injured but did it last year. Evans, Aus nats aren't this time of year. Wiggins and Cav are big names that didnt do it, yes, but Wiggins did it last year and won, while Cav the course is not suited to him. Sanchez and Menchov didnt do it, but Menchov did do the itt and doesnt really do one day races while Samu has an injury to try to recover from.

Other than that Cancellara, Boonen, Gilbert, Nibali, Frank Schleck Gesink, all were there.

Mancebo doesn't do well in the nationals. He just rides like a headless chicken, flapping his arms around and being absolutely stupid, tactics-wise, just so that people will remember he's still around.
Haha, that is a perfect description. Fun, but almost invariably ultimately pointless.

Too bad Fischer didn't win in Brasil. I always liked their jersey, and seeing a member of my favorite team wearing it was awesome.

If Wiggins' British Champ jersey is anything to go by, EBH's should be classic.
Definitely. There are lots of things I really, really dislike about Team Sky. I can't stand their boring, corporate normal jerseys... but their national champions jerseys are just about the best in the bunch.

Here's his ITT jersey from days gone by:

Then you have Thomas' (and subsequently Wiggins') straightforward, classy British jersey:

And Christian Knees' similarly stylish German one:

Although, to be fair, until Leopard Trek came along I didn't think it was possible to make a bad German national jersey.

Rafael Reis came in as 6th in the U23 ITT. It's still not his season so far.
In retrospect he should not have competed at all. He is not completed recovered after his crash on stage one in Toscana - Coppa delle Nazioni. He did well at Tres Días de Alava showing his punch on the hardest hill of the race, but unfortunately the stitches in his knee cut open.

He is also lacking a lot of race rhythm. We must not forget that he was sidelined for six months with a knee injury after his crash at last year Portuguese championships.

He is incredible fluid on the bike for a guy of his stature. I must admit I have a lot of faith in him for the future. He just needs a little bit of luck on his side (As in being injury free) and the results will start rolling in!

Rafael Reis is a huge talent and still so young. He will make his way to the pro ranks in the next years.

ITT Sweden:

1. Gustav Larsson (Vacansoleil-DCM)
2. Tobias Ludvigsson (Argos-Shimano)
3. Alexander Wetterhall (Endura Racing)

5th title for Larsson.

If geraint was allowed a huge welsh dragon on it it would have stuck out a bit!

PS There is a pretty good thread all about national jerseys somewhere nearby

Gustav Larsson won the Swedish TT championship. 50km @ 49.3km/hr:

For some reason CQ had the wrong date.

Cadel has not participated in the Australian Nats for a while but other than that most of our stars will compete as it is good preparation for the TDU.

All the major Brits this year skipped it. I think WT's approaches are to win it ( justification they are good ) but it could hamper their races that come up.
