I've walked up Montrose Street a few times and even though it's not perfectly comfortable for a walk, it's practically flat in cycling terms, even Byres Road and University Avenue(roads that I used daily) have more elevation :) but it's still remarkable that he could attack Stannard, Millar and Kennaugh on any terrain.

I really wish they did this last year, they practically went right by my former student residence near Kelvingrove Park :)

I walk up all three everyday and that's rubbish. Montrose is pushing 10%, University Avenue is probably 5-7% and Byres road is not even 5%. Montrose is where the split happened in the womens race.

Well done Cav, I guess the climbs were just to short to shift him, I really thought a guy like Millar or Stannard would get a gap and go on to win.

The competition wasn't very strong. Stannard and Fenn were out front on the first lap, joined by the other four as chasers the next lap and everyone else was already an already ran at 28km. That said, the guys Cav hung with should have been able to drop him, that was a very good performance.

The latest in a long line of equally impressive and embarrassing fails at the Nationals. The Rabo-Blancos are the all time fail champions. By a street.

Nice one for cav! Major kudos by doing it with an attack, he's ready for the Tour no doubt.

And not GB national champ jersey for the GB national team. :D I find that very funny for some reason.

That is indeed an epic photo. I love seeing pictures like this; the pure joy in becoming the national champion. The pride in representing your country.

Ciolek second in the german champs??? Did andy race luxemborg champs?
I was really happy to see hoogerland and devolder win their national champs. Both have had struggles in recent years so it'd be a massive boost for their self-esteem to get a race win as underdog :D
Slightly surprised cavendish won the british champs because it was apparrently more of a classics style course. But that's a good sign for cav ahead of the tdf and i think he deserved it anyway.
Pretty obvious sagan would win slovakian champs
Vichot won the french champs also btw
