So much to say about the Seahawks. First about their actual play. Offense is starting to play better. Graham had a couple great catches, 2 TDs, Wilson is starting to look better and perhaps he is starting to get over the injuries. Still, they need to be more consistent and with the Patriots coming up, Wilson is gonna have to be even more mobile. The defense, on the other hand, is going the other direction. I think a lot of this has to do with injuries piling up. I think the aggressive nature of their defense, having a lot of their players on that end very active, going for plays, being physical, etc has taken a toll. They are supposed to get three key defensive (among them Bennett) back in the very near future, so that should help. The injuries are also happening because their offense being so lethargic and unpredictable week by week, that they (offense) isn't giving them (defense) enough rest. Not getting enough 3rd down conversions, possession of ball is not there (perfect example was last night against the Bills, check the possession time, it was heavily in Buffalo's favor, though the fault was mostly of the defense, which this time gave the Bills too many first downs, check the stats, crazy!!).
They have a favorable schedule the 2nd half of the season. Yes, they travel to New England on Sunday, but the better the opponent, the better the Seahawks seem to play, so if both teams are playing well, it could be a great game! After that, a key road game is against the Packers, not until December, and the Packers aren't exactly killin' this season. The other games are Panthers (underperforming mightily this year), Eagles (a good start to the season, now stalling), they play the Bucks, who shouldn't be too much of a problem, and obviously the division games vs Cards, Rams and 49ers, none of which are playing well at the moment, even if the Rams have given the Seahawks problems over the past couple seasons.
Now to the controversial call(s). It seems like the Hawks just can't seem to escape controversy on the field, be it in their favor or in the opponents favor. I think it has a lot to do with the style of their defense. Like I mentioned in regards to injuries, all their players are mobile, or at least the ones that need to be, and the play tough and go for everything. Sherman got away with one, even if he doesn't want to admit it. Remember Kam Chancellor jumping over the D formation two or three times in a row a couple years ago? It was called for a fall start, but he did it two or three times on the play alone. That's been evident in Carroll's run with the Hawks. Having said that, the penalties and those not called penalties have really taken away from some of their games. It really started four years ago on that now infamous MNF game at home vs the Packers. The "Fail Marry." Ironically, that game really jump started this current run of good form. Had they lost that MNF game, they would have been 1-2, the next game was at the Rams, which they lost, so 1-3...and who knows what after that. They seem to be involved in controversial games on a seemingly regular basis. It's not just once or twice a year, but now it seems like it's one or two plays A GAME!
