Who would have ever thought that there could be a red shirt year in the NFL.
All the grey haired hang ons may look to stay in the game. I wonder how positive this Covid-19 layoff will be for older players..healing time w pressure minimized..No full contact practices for players and practice teams..Knees and shoulders given extra weeks. Pulled, ripped off and other torn muscles given an involuntary vacation..so my hope is when football returns we will see more familiar faces.
The experience that veteran players currently have will increase in value simply because no on the job training for young players is unavailable..world wide.

Wow...talk about bad luck. I thought this league had some traction and might survive into a second season. But that's it - it's done for good.

I actually starting watching some games in their entirety during the 2nd week of play or so (I had the flu for about a week in Feb and had a lot of time to watch sports). The game kind of grew on me as I became more fimilar with the players and style of the game. I thought if we had a franchise here in Colorado, I would consider going to a game.

Sad nonetheless...McMahon must be thinking I can't believe this crap.

AAF and XFL both gone within 12 months !

I think the issue with the XFL is and always was, "how much money is Vince McMahon willing to lose?" Because the XFL, just like the AAF and any other similar start-up, is going to have to take a heavy loss leader, and someone who isn't very risk averse to really back it. Because you're simply not going to make much money for some time no matter how popular football is, and how well you run, market and sell it.

The answer from Vince now appears to be, "not much"!

Which is funny since the reports were he was willing to take a lose for a couple years.

The draft is this week in a different format than we have become used to. We'll see how it goes, but I like the 'idea' of everyone being at their home instead of the big theater production.

Could half of the top 10 be QBs? Will CIN surprise us and take Chase Young (I can't imagine it)? As important as QB1 is, there are some great WRs (and a lot of really good ones too) in this draft to make those QBs' job easier. I think that I posted this already, but will a team take Hurts (higher than expected) to be their Hill X guy?

BSU hat on: Cleaveland a beast T with great feet, and Weaver a speedy edge DE/OLB..can they crack the first round? Second round for sure?

As long as the links hold it should be fine. It didn't used to be the huge production it's become so I expect it to be fine. It'll be different, but I don't think there will be any real problems. Still get the interviews and all the analysis and highlights. My biggest annoyance is going to be the combination of the NFL Network and ESPN. The last couple of years I've had enough of ESPN's coverage and gone to just watching the NFL Network's coverage.

This is a good practical observation. Unfortunately it will always come down to the cost of business and young draftees are cheaper. Marginal veteran players will need to shine early in pre-season (what preseason?) to maintain a position. Given that the schedule might be abbreviated, opportunities for all players are going to be uncertain. What will be certain is guys will have less time to prepare and shine....and recover from new injuries.

Oldermanish..I think we agree..Somebody better tell NFL teams front office and coaching staff..I am not saying it's like one of those movies were a bunch of old guys get the gang back together for one last wacky caper ..
too many old QB's in the league..and crazy still how years of experience under center in a game turn out to be vital..

Watched 2 very sentimental and seemingly sincere interviews with Gronk about head injuries and health..past present and future.
Gronkowski to the Bugs a Brady..

My mom just texted me it. Rumored to be done tomorrow, Gronk and 7th for a 4th to negate Gronk's cap hit.

There goes 2 people I never thought would play somewhere else doing it the same year. Year off will help Gronk immensely. Makes you wonder if part of the reason he didn't want to come back was tired of BB. The warmer weather will definitely help both as long as Brady starts playing better in HOT games. Jersey sales are going to be through the roof. If it works out, it comes down to who are you going to try and neutralize for defenses. Think if AB hired one of us as PR person he could be there too.

2021 matchup will be insane hopefully between Pats and Bucs.

I'm not too surprised Gronk is coming back. Throughout history athletes have almost always had to be shown the door, that they completely didn't have it anymore, with few retiring in their prime before it was obvious (Barry Sanders). Gronk (and Brady) are following suit. Having said that, I can easily see a healthy Gronk have a very good season in TB.

Love that Pat McAfee clip.

As to Mel Kiper, that guy is so laughably bad, a random wheel of fortune can pick almost as good as his "expert" analysis. Lots of links and videos to all the terrible picks he suggested. I could make a list, but I don't have a few hours or days to bother.

I thought there was always a chance he would come back after some rest for a year or so but after he signed with Fox and WWE I thought he was done completely with football.
