Doesn't matter - they still found a way to lose. There's no good losses or moral victories in the NFL.
This.

I've criticized some of the decisions the Rams have made in recent years, and still, but you know what, they have a SB banner hanging up in their new stadium. That's all that matters. This isn't college where you can walk away from an underwhelming season with smaller bowl game victories, conference championships, or even homecoming game wins and call it acceptable. You win games, and championships in the NFL, that's it. The NFL is a business as much as anything, with winners and losers. Played great but still did something wrong that cost you the game? Few care. You lost.
Florio and Simms on insane RTP calls.
I've never seen Chris Simms that passionate. He even swore a few times! But he really made a sound point. Either just tell everyone the rules have changed, or let them play like they always did, and hit the QB from time to time and accept the consequences. And he was a QB!

not speaking of them but in general I’d rather lose a regular season game that was close vs us getting our a$$ kicked. In Broncos case they have to figure out what the heck they were doing that he was doing so well in the beginning of the game.

Guess who’s back

CM to SF seems like a Rams type move. Will it work? He certainly adds a dimension to their offense! So, what happens if he makes a huge difference, and the 49ers win the SB with Jimmy G?

Thursday's game was, umm, well, Murray sure looked good against the Saints backups. And Dalton threw bad passes at the worst time. Better than last week's game!

As I said before, the faster the NFL can get rid of Dan Snyder, the better, though I'm sure Rappaport is right in that it's not going to happen during the season. Pat has become the Howard Stern of sports talk. Love how blunt he is, but he's so spot on most of the time, and gets top guests.

And to piggyback off the question and response to @movingtarget’s question on Packers and Bucs poor scoring offense is the inconsistent to bad run game that they had the threat of in the past. Last year the Packers ran the ball more and passed getting closer to the end zone. They did that with defenses game planning and focusing on Adams opening the run more. The Packers receivers aren’t a threat like Adams so there are more defenders to stop the run. Bucs would pass and getting closer to the red zone they’d run the ball. But they not only lost Gronk which hampers the pass and run game but serious oline issues. Meaning the defense can get to the passer or stop the run with 3-4 defenders. Take the Bucs receivers to GB or GBs line to Tampa and both teams look like usual.

I've been saying all along this is the year of the backup QB: Wilson out & Rypien to start against the Jets:

Only Rypien's second start in his career - let's see what the kid from Boise St can do.
The "back up" Jimmy G still in the mix as well and Rush only had one bad game for the Cowboys. As for starting QBs, Hurts looks much better for the Eagles Matt Ryan had a better game for the Colts last week and he needed to, and Dalton showed why he is a back up now. A mixture of good and bad.

To Rush's credit, he was playing against the best team in the NFC, and a team with a very strong defense.

Thoughts on a few games:

ATL@CIN - Both of these teams are playing on the rise. The Falcons playing hard, and better than anyone thought. The Bengals finally looking like the team people expected.

DET@DAL - Great game for Dak to come back. They should be able to pile up enough points against one of the worst defenses in the NFL. I expect Dak to be a little rusty, but Dallas has a good run game, and can still give up 20+ points and win easily.

NYG@JAX - I think the Giants are ripe for an upset. They have been winning close games, while the Jaguars are playing hard while losing close games.

IND@TEN - A fight for first place. This is truly a game that will be won in the trenches. Not sure how well Indy can protect Ryan, who is finally in sync with their offense, but an aging statue. Not sure how well Tenn can continue to pound the ball, hold a lead, or come from behind.

GB@WAS - If the Packers can't win this game, there will be zero room to relax the rest of the way.

HOU@LVR - If the Raiders can't win this game, after a bye, there really is no hope for their season.

SEA@SD - I like the Seahawks chances here, at least against the spread (-5 1/2). Herbert's injury has prevented him from throwing hard, deep accuracy, and running or taking hits, and I think the Seahawk offense quick playing matches up well against the Chargers.

KC@SF - CM or no CM, if the 49ers fall 2 scores behind, I don't see them winning. But they have the ability on both sides of the ball to slow the game down, just as well as KC can speed it up.

PIT@MIA - Why is this the flex game at night, instead of KC@SF, or even IND@TEN or ATL@CIN?

Think the Falcons can push the Bengals.

Dallas defense should get them home.

Giants will win I think.

Colts are very different without Taylor at RB. Should be a close one.

Must win for GB.

Same for the Raiders.

Hawks game should be a good one. Slightly favour them to win.

SF getting Ward, Williams and Bosa back. CMC expected to play. SF need big games from Deebo, Kittle and Jeff Wilson to have any hope. And Jimmy needs to play a tidy game. Chiefs are even harder to beat after a loss..........SF have s been been missing their run stoppers : Armstead and Kinlaw as the Falcons showed.

Must win for both GB and TB in my opinion. GB needs to catch up to Vikings and TB needs space on Falcons and Saints. Another lose for both and being wildcards could be a real thing. Raiders have to win out to make the playoffs.

If they keep playing like this the wildcard might not even be on the table for GB or TB. GB’s offense keeps disappearing after the half while TB’s don’t even show up. Both teams can’t run the ball with miscommunication, drops, or bad throws. At least GB’s offense has looked good in games while TB’s just shown up against Falcons in the beginning and Chiefs at the end. The only time they’ve looked like they’d score is Evans drop. I think the play calling is bad for both, especially when neither run game is getting anything the majority of the time setting up second and long. I’m sure both quarterbacks are sick of it and what’s crazy is they’re still making good to great throws, the stat sheet just doesn’t show it. Without the drops Brady would be leading the league by a wide margin again in yards, touchdowns on the other hand are hard to come by.

Great win for Giants and Cowboys to keep pace for the division. Like Brady when they were 2-2, a lot of bad football for the majority of teams.

Some surprising, ugly, as well as some very positive results for teams.

Agree GB and TB look like the WC may be out of reach, or they'll get there and fold. I've been watching sports for 50 years, I don't care how much talent you have, you don't just "turn it on" when it matters. Tampa put up three points against Carolina. That's it. :nomouth:

Bengals did look good, and a good comeback win for the Giants. I've never been a NY fan, but it's kind of neat to see them grit together wins like this for their coach.

Very impressive win by KC's offense. As good as any in the NFL right now. D played well when needed too.

Almost as impressed by Seattle. Maybe more so because they were supposed to almost tank, and the Chargers were supposed to content for the AFC. But Seattle looked very motivated, like they are on the rise and their entire team is coming together. Geno was very steady. Their defense, even without Adams, was stiff when it mattered, and another incredible game from Walker. A combination of pure power and speed. Banner day. Seattle solely in first place!

Panthers result was a stunner. Wasn't too surprised that Chiefs blew out the 49ers in the second half. The 49ers leaving points on the field just before half time was a turning point even though the Chiefs missed the FG. Not sure why the 49ers don't use their RBs and FB to punch the ball in instead of risking dangerous passes with an unreliable QB. But the constant penalties and mistakes from the 49ers put an end to it later in the second half. I never thought the 49ers were going to close the gap. Reid always seemed one step ahead.

Dolphins might regret not taking the field goal to go up two scores right now.
Though they held on to win! I swear teams don’t like kicking the field goal this year and it coming back to bite them. I’d always want points in a close game when fourth down isn’t 1 or 2 yards because you never know when you’d score again in a tough, close one.

Broncos in trouble 2-5 and likely out of the playoff picture already. Seahawks improving, 4-3, leading the division. The unfortunate thing is DK Metcalf injured. With Lockett already out, this is not good. Kenneth Walker crushed it today. Seattle have the best offensive and defensive rookies. This bodes well for the future and a quick rebuild.
