I watched that whole game. Dalton and the Panthers played good. But what really happened is the Raiders were downright awful. Horrible coaching, horrible gameplan. Bad tackling, dumb penalties. Borderline lazy play. Several players admitted the Panthers came to play, and they expected to easily beat them anyway. It's shocking how poorly prepared they were heading into the game. Bryce Young would have beat this Raider team.
Yeah, that loss is on Pierce. If he keeps laying eggs like that, he'll have a short tenure as a HC. He's got to make some changes...and now!

Chiefs defense came in clutch again and their offense still struggling to put points up but with a defense like theirs they’ve been going fine. The injuries to Falcons oline came up big, chiefs were getting a lot of pressure after Falcons center went down. Another week with controversy, but hard to say Falcons would have scored if the penalty was correctly called (though they did get a make up call on their last drive with the 3rd penalty of DPI.) Even if they did Chiefs still had a lot of time to score. Me personally, I’d have kicked the field goal in the chance ended up kicking a field goal the following drive in order to go for the win with a touchdown vs touchdown and 2 point conversion to tie at the worst case scenario. Then best case scenario you kick the field goal to win vs trying to get a touchdown again. But Chiefs are winning the ugly games so far and should get it all together with Juju and Worthy getting more time with the team and injuries coming back should be better. Only worry is if Rice ever gets suspended. Hopefully Mahomes is fine after that kneel down tackle.

Bengals and Bills should win tonight, Bills have to in order to keep pace with the Chiefs.

He needs to look in the mirror. Casual fans like me were calling this a "trap" game. Also saying Carolina would try to run the ball up the middle with Hubbard, and focus on quick short passes. They did exactly that, but the Raiders played like they had no idea the Panthers could possibly play like this.

The Saints also repeatedly gashed the Panthers weak D running off-tackle, and the Raiders are weak at guard. So what did the Raiders do? Tried to run up the middle on almost every run play. Granted, the team took a total dump, and Carolina did play well, but a huge part of this loss is on Pierce, and OC Luke Getsy (who was a loser in Chicago). AP can't just say "it's the players". That's total BS. Raider Nation were loudly booing the team as they left the field, and they deserved it.

Nomad - no comments on our previous posts about your boy Herbert?

Part of that Dolphins 1972 undefeated season & legendary backfield of Bob Griese, Larry Csonka & Jim Kiick. Morris, only a buck 90 but with blazing speed, was Mr. Outside while Csonka was a north/south, between the tackles bruising-type runner. Kiick was in the rotation & the pass-catching back.

I remember back in HS football us smaller RBs emulated Morris while our FB emulated Csonka & our QB admired Griese. Lol. And whatta you know - we had an undefeated State championship team my senior year.

What can I say...he's already hurt again. This time it's an ankle to go along with his plantar fasciitis (in a walking boot I hear & probably going to miss practice time).

It's funny you were speculating that Rodgers probably won't last the season, but maybe in reality it's Herbert that won't last. I bet Harbaugh didn't expect his "franchise QB" to be injured this early in the season. Lol

I wouldn't get too excited about that win & think Carolina is all of a sudden in contention for the division title. You're talking Dalton here. Lol. A 36 yr old journeyman backup who's been with 4 teams in the last 5 seasons (DAL/CHI/NO/CAR). There's a reason why he's not a starter in the league. In 14 seasons, most as a starter with the Bengals, he's a 0-4 in the playoffs. The future for the Panthers is not Andy Dalton.
At this stage he's a good back up. Flacco looked better than expected last year and then went off the boil in the first playoff game but then Dak does that regularly...............

Dolphins and Chargers were quick to pay their respective QBs. Wonder what they're thinking now ? But that's the reality of the NFL now. A good season is so dependent on QB play and injuries can happen in the blink of an eye although both players have had continual issues many would argue. Could be worse, you could have traded for Watson ! Love and GB also dodged a bullet.

Did the report on Hargrave say the season? Sometimes guys recover from muscle tears in time to wear a brace late season. Though I suppose "the season" means he could be back in time for the playoffs, or SB, if SF gets there.

Bills once again are the kings of September. Explosive offensive, and dominating defensive performance wiping the floor with the Jags, who may be finished at 0-3.

Daniels looks like the real deal. Incredible game, and clutch play. I seem to recall Nomad saying he was better than Williams, and he is for sure so far. No wonder the Raiders were willing to give up multiple draft picks/players to get him, and no wonder Washington said no. Bengals may be finished as well at 0-3. Joe Burrow looks average, the Bengals defense gave up way too much. Even their offense just looks anemic. Though finally okay here in garbage time as I post. Ho hum.

Don't forget the stat, teams that start 0-3 have a 2.5% chance of making the playoffs, that's it. And none have ever gotten to the Super Bowl.

I rode my bike to Lyle Alzado's gravesite today. Across the river and up the hill from my home, I'd never been there. Brain cancer was his official death, he said steroids caused his tumors, but I'm sure CTE was a big factor in retrospect.

Jags and Bengals looked like garbage, especially with compared to their preseason hype. Better games would have been Jags vs Bengals and Commanders vs Bills. If it continues like this one might make the seventh seed. Bengals defense was so bad an average person had good odds to make a NFL catch or rushing attempt. Second prime time game showing a ref and ignoring DPI in the end zone.

Bills totally outclassed the Jags. Cook and Allen were dominant. Jags fall to 0-3. Bills new OC has the offense humming. Surprised to hear that the new Bills stadium won't have a roof.........

Daniels and Ekeler were big for the Commanders. Bengals couldn't finish off enough drives and drop to 0-3. Another slow start to the season for the Bengals. I think they were 1-4 last season then picked up.

But last year they didn't have Burrow for those games. This year they do, and he's playing slightly above average I guess. For $55m a year ($65m if he hits all triggers). Lawerence signed a new deal too, and he's playing worse, but the numbers on that deal are much more team friendly, at least until like 2029, when the payout is much bigger (his total cash potential this year is "only" $38m). The oft injured Herbert raking in up to $56m this year. I didn't know Goff's new contract was as loaded as it was. Josh Allen? A screaming deal for Buffalo at just $33m. Some numbers here.

I'm in many ways not surprised about the Bills not having a roof. Bad weather has always been at least somewhat of an advantage for them, the fans there are completely used to it. Minnesota lost theirs when they went to a total dome/indoor. The only thing that surprises me is I thought the awning on the new Bills stadium might cover the fans more. Maybe not like Dallas, but more like Seattle, or the way Texan's stadium is when the roof is open. But at least there is some protection.

I cut the cable a year ago, so watching the NFL has been a scramble if it isn't Peacock or Amazon.
So tonight I VPN'd my way across the Atlantic and watched on my beloved 5

What a shuck show it has become. I haven't watched a game on 5 since 2008. I remembered it as fun.
oh well.
Don't know about pricing but YouTube has some NFL package, don't know if it's a yearly commitment.. Don't feel left out my friend turns on cable TV once a year for his grandmother so she can watch Westminster Dog Show and then they turn it off!!
I think it's Amazon Prime that has the Mannings calling the game trying to be funny w celebrities

But it is a good excuse to go to a bar to watch a game.

From what I read you can cancel your subscription at anytime to YouTube TV and you’re not entitled to pay the whole year end amount. We just got the basic model though, not the NFL package that you can see any game.

I like MNF on Channel 5 in the UK - certainly compared to any other NFL on TV in the UK. I only started watching it last year. Admittedly it is better when they have two "analysts" and last year they had Gregg Rosenthal on with MJD but so far no Gregg this season - don't know if that's a permanent change. What was it like back in 2008?

The NFL on Sky Sports (pay tv) has gone so badly downhill in recent years I find it unwatchable without the mute button but fortunately that's only required for the playoffs. For regular season Sky Sports also has Redzone in full so I watch that instead.

Interesting...I didn't know he was buried in Portland (good photo...thanks for posting). I'm quite familiar with Alzado & watched him play with the Broncos back in the 1970s. The Broncos drafted him in 71 & he became part of the famous "Orange Crush" defense that played Dallas in SB XII in 1977. He was traded to Cleveland in 79 & later to the Raiders.

Heavy anabolic steroid use was his downfall ultimately costing him health problems & his life. He was considered "the most feared player in NFL history." I remember him getting into a lot of fights on the field because of "roid rage". He had a mean streak about him & wanted to seriously injure players in games.

Here's a good video on his life & career with the NFL. Sadly, he died at only 43 but he acknowledges that his abuse of steroids, which started back in his freshman year of college, caused his brain cancer:

No roof for an NFL team and its fans in Buffalo makes sense. The roof would would be however many additional $millions for what: 8 (or 9) home games, at least half of which take place when the weather is great there. So a roof for basically 4 games + possible playoffs, which as l’Alpe pointed out, work to their competitive advantage.
Plus, Buffalo gets more gigantic single-storm snowfalls amounts than any other NFL city. That roof will need more support than one in Detroit.

What the heck is going on with these two clubs? Both 0-3 & sitting rock bottom in their division! And that "2.5%" playoff stat you gave certainly doesn't bode well for either of these teams.

The next "Peyton Manning" is playing like more like the next "Mitchell Trubisky." Lol. What's wrong with him? The last time he won a game was in November of last season! He now has the 25th worse QB rating (43) & the offense has the 2nd lowest point total in the league (40). I'm not aware of any injury(s) that he's playing through like he did in the 2nd half of the season last year? Is this the same Lawrence that 2 yrs ago led the Jaguars to a division title & first rd playoff win? And with Mac Jones the backup, I don't think Pederson is too eager to make a switch. Lol.

And Joe Burrow? Is this the same Joe Burrow that led the Bengals to the SB a few yrs ago in only his 2nd season? Their offensive point total is also one of the worst in the league. Could Burrow still not be 100% healed from his injuries he sustained last season? Something is not right with that team that was a preseason pick to win the division & contend for the SB.

If these two clubs fail to make the playoffs, I can see both Pederson & Taylor canned at the end of the year. You can't have this nonsense occurring with two #1 OA picks now making a ton of $$$. Inexcusable!

Jags just yesterday insisted Pederson is not on any hot seat at all, and Lawerence is their QB. But what else are they going to say? Let's see if they end up around 6-11 and what management says then.

I'm wondering if Joe Burrow is the reincarnation Greg Cook.

It's I think fairly safe to write both those teams off, at least for SB wins. Like I posted the other day, the Chiefs didn't look great this week, but their D played very solid, and they continue to find ways to win games, which will add up late in the season.

Here's the latest ESPN list of injured NFL players. It reads like a triage list for the Battle of the Bulge. Shocking amount of guys hurt.

Here's the SI article by Lyle Alzado. Tough to read. Very ugly side of sports.

I wasn't familiar with Greg Cook  - had to look him up. Too funny...a 5th OA pick that lasted a mere 5 seasons with the Bengals. One key difference though, they said Cook had to go work for UPS & actually earn a living. With Burrow's net worth @ $50m, a fate like that would never occur & Burrow could retire a very rich man. Lol

Sounds like Pederson is on the hot seat. Read Shad Khan's comments from August. Khan says this is the best Jaguars team assembled...ever. He says the expectations are to win...now. I'll predict: No playoffs...No Pederson.

An unbelievable amount injuries only a 4th into the season! Hargrave done for the year! Even the backup QBs are getting hammered: Skylar Thompson is all busted up with a rib injury & McDaniels may have to start the 3rd QB for Sunday. Herbert in a walking boot for his assortment of injuries. If he decides to play this week, he'll be out two of his starting linemen. And not looking on good on the progress of CMC's Achilles tendinitis:
