Another blatant missed call late in the Rams game. Clearly it shouldn't have been a safety on Darnold as it was a clear face mask pull by the Rams defender. Is their any point having replays at all ?
True. But hopefully no one starts yelling “it cost them the game” when there was no way Darnold was going to get them 95 yds for a TD with about a minute left and no timeouts. And then get the 2-pt conversion just to tie score.

Same here about Tua. He's going to have to alter his style of play. In Tom Brady's last few seasons, he had refined his play to where he rarely if ever ran, and if he did he slid or ran out bounds. And if a pass rush was about to eat him alive, he threw the ball into the dirt near the closest receiver, or just dropped to the ground. Can Tua adapt to that style of play quickly?

Agree with Nomad, there was no indication Darnold was going to lead them 83 yards down the field. He's gone from a very impressive first few games, to above average. You could argue he's a game manager. I don't think that's an insult the way some do, as long as the team is winning. But they have lost two in a row. One to a very good team (Detroit) and another to a team with talented players, they should have beat (LA).

In current (stupid) NFL rules, a face-mask cannot be reviewed, and cannot be challenged.

This is another thing the UFL gets right. Not sure any of you watched much of it, but ANY call can be reviewed, and challenged. Technology makes it quick, and easy. Just like we at home saw it within about 30 seconds, so do officials. But the NFL is stuck in the 1990s when it comes to replay.

The UFL also used the NCAA's pass interference rule. 15 yards and an automatic first down, instead of the dumb spot foul rule the NFL uses (and players abuse). I tried to watch every UFL game, and don't recall seeing a single flagrant PI where a DB takes advantage of it. Not one. Same watching NCAA games. The NFL needs to get with the times.

I am not sure if this is good news or the most heartbreaking game of Russian roulette in recent memory...?
Well, he's cleared the protocol & he's ready to get back in the arena. And boy do they need him back! In his IR absence, the team has gone 1-3 barely beating the hapless Patriots. Lol. They were 1-1 in the first two games he played including the Bills loss where he was hurt missing the 2nd half.

At 2-4 & in a lously division, there's still plenty of time to salvage the season & make a run for the playoffs - and maybe with some luck catch the Bills who they're only 2 1/2 games behind. I've got Tua as a top 10 QB in the league. Miami simply can't be successful without him.

Interesting article on Tua declining to wear the "Guardian Cap."

Good post and link. He has switched over to the newest, most protective helmet (without guardian cap), and hopefully he'll take the "Brady" route and not run for yards, and just fall when about to be sacked. I also have a gut feeling referees will blow whistles a bit quicker when he's in the grasp, or touches the turf.

I agree he's a top 10 QB. He's one of the best in the league at throwing the ball downfield with accuracy, and unafraid to do so. He was the main reason they made the playoffs last year, and they didn't lose to KC because of him. They wouldn't have beat KC anyway - the Dolphins just froze in that environment and the Chiefs knew it before kickoff, but Tua played well. They have been explosive at times with Tua, and he and McDaniel are very much in tune. He's the QB for McDaniel's creative, aggressive system.

I also agree they could make the playoffs if he stays healthy, maybe. Running a playoff predictor, it seems to me at least one team in the AFC will make it at 9-8. But my quick test had KC only losing 1 game, and Baltimore and Houston only losing 3, which historically seems unlikely all three almost running the table, so who knows? I think the Bills are going to be fine, but I don't see them getting past about the division round. Their loss to the Ravens, and inability to move the ball on offense against the Texans showed this to me.

Most interesting games:

PHI@CIN - Both teams improving, Bengals still pretty much in must win mode, 0-3 at home.
BAL@CLE - Ravens should win by double digits, but I'm curious to see if Cleveland comes alive with Watson vanquished, and Chubb back (even if limited).
AZ@MIA - Tua back, and even if plays just okay it may inspire his whole team.
ATL@TB - If you asked me 2 weeks ago who would win this, I'd say Tampa, but with their two top receivers out...
GB@JAX - Jags looked decent last two games, now we'll find out if they are for real.
BUF@SEA - This could be somewhat high scoring, and fun to watch.
KC@LV - The only intriguing thing to me is the O/U is 41.5. This game should be about 27-6 to me.
CHI@WAS - Was supposed to be Williams vs. Daniels, but it Jayden is doubtful.

DAL@SF - Two teams that are really underperforming. Let's see who has it. 49ers actually in last place.

Jets are absolute garbage. Even getting a handful of favorable calls, they still are garbage. What an embarrassing, humiliating loss, to the hapless Patriots.

Browns come alive! Should have just started Winston all season!

Bengals were exposed. They look like a 7-10 team.

Fins really should have beat the Cards. But they looked a lot better with Tua.

Zuerlein has cost the Jets 3 games so far.

This is the first game Zuerlein’s missed actually cost them the game. If both kickers make their kicks Jets still lose to Broncos and Bills. Rodgers is the jets problem and until they figure that out they’re not winning. Not to mention Jets defense is worse after they got rid of the “problem” in Saleh.

On the other end crazy game by the Lions with Goff not needing to be used at all.

Still waiting for Cook to be punished for starting the fight with Williams by punching him in the back of the head and the refs said it was assist reviewed by New York.
Which he and Williams finally did this past Friday. We were able to watch the game up to Chiefs making it 20-13 then for some reason the NFL network stopped working. This was a game Raiders were within reach of winning till they imploded. Chiefs defense still elite and Mahomes is continuing to show off his inner Vick.

The Bronco game was much closer than I thought. The Panthers put a quick score on the Broncos off the the 1st qtr turnover, and Nix & Co had to play catch up for most of the 1st half.

The story line undoubtedly was Nix. He had the most productive game of his young career throwing for 284 yds, 3 TDs, no picks (124 QB rating) and a rushing TD - accounting for all of the team's points. Nix also becomes the winningest rookie QB in franchise history! This is very impressive, I didn't expect him to being performing so well in his rookie year. I guess Payton knows a thing or two about developing young QBs.

On the other side, Young has a long way to go if he's going to make it as a starter in this league. Too many turnovers, missing open receivers, unable to handle the pressure & flat out looks flimsy out there. Lol.

The real test for the Broncos: Next week @ Baltimore.

Well, this is what they get for trading Wilson. It's very clear now they're not going to win with Rodgers. He needs to call it a career, retire at the end of the season & move on (he can go hang out with Pat McAfee on his show. Lol). The Rodgers experiment is a failure. He's just too old & didn't age as well as Brady. The Jets need to look at the draft next year for one of top hotshot QBs that will be available.

If the Jets would have kept Wilson they surely would have made a QB change by now & Wilson would get some much needed playing experience. Currently, at the Broncos he's been a healthy scratch for every game as their emergency #3 QB. This means if Nix were to get hurt, it's Stidham as the replacement & not Wilson. Not having the opportunity to play is what is hurting Wilson. I'm not willing to write him off yet based on the "Baker Mayfield" & "Sam Darnold" effect. I wrote those two guys off as big high 1st rd draft "busts" making a fool out of myself. Lol. Keep in mind, Wilson has one of the best arms in the league. It would be a shame to let that go to waste.

Cowboys a total mess. Game wasn't nearly as close as the score. Hard do watch at times. SF looked okay, but Dallas looked like junk for most of the game.

Incredible hail mary win for the Commanders. Amazing!

No question the Jets were a (slightly) better team with Wilson at QB. Even with Rodgers getting everything he wanted, and having the team built for him (not built for Wilson): Lazard, Cobb, his favorite OC in Hackett, getting rid of the mean coach (Saleh) and trading for his buddy Adams. The problem is Rodgers has definitely aged to being a below average QB, on a below average team. But the Jets are a cluster org anyway.

I too am curious to see where Wilson ends up next season. Someone will take a chance on him, it will be interesting to see how he does, because it's increasingly apparent he wasn't the problem in New York.

I was honestly surprised the Chiefs didn't blow them out. The Raiders are not a good team, are missing numerous starters, and had no business keeping that game close. KC continues to be a team that puzzles me. Yep, they are unbeaten. They keep winning games. But they have yet to impress me with the season nearly half over. It's like any game now their offense will light up some other team for 40+ points with numerous explosive plays, right? And their powerful D may shut someone out, no? Actually, they've not held one team to single digits. How did the pathetic Raiders offense score 20 points on them? In theory the Chiefs could just keep doing this, finish 17-0 and run the table through the Super Bowl, winning a slew of games with 24-20 type scores. If this weren't Mahomes, Reid and the Chiefs, I'd say they remind me of the 2020 Steelers who started the season 11-0, then lost to the Browns in the WC round of the playoffs.

Ahhh yes, the ol' Kingdome. Did the good citizens of Seattle and King County ever pay that thing off? That place was downright gloomy. Lit by old, recycled fluorescent bulbs usually reserved for morgues. And then there were the troughs. After they imploded the whole thing my cousin got me a chunk of it, concrete with a piece of rebar going through it. I used to use it as a doorstop at my house, no clue where it ended up. My ex probably tossed it while I wasn't looking.

Love that Saleh is helping the Packers, considering Rodgers (very likely) helped get him fired. I read where he was ready to take the rest of the year off until they called. He must have thought in the back of his mind, "The Packers?! Oh, this should be good! I'll take it!"

I will take the Vikings over the Rams, but I'm curious how well Darnold plays. He wasn't bad last week, at all, but he definitely took a step back to average, and didn't step up in crunch time.
The Kingdome had a few glitches. The contractor tried to hold up the "hicks" that ran King County. When they were lowering scaffold that held the roof structure the concrete forms didn't release at the exact elevation per the engineering. The specifications had additional shoring lowering tolerances that the contractor chose not to enact. Instead they sued the County for ongoing rentals, lost profit, overhead...etc.
The County countersued and my high school friend led the legal response. He's a smart dude and with a strong local firm of fellow "hicks" . The contractor ending up finishing the work and paying King County $25mil in lost revenue and damages. The dome was paid off in record time and actually generated profits for a decade, I'd heard. It was a hellish place to watch sports and especially concerts.

On another note; Rodgers left the field before time expired in today's loss Win. Do you think he'll keep on walking?

As a kid, I loved going to watch the Mariners and Seahawks play in the Kingdome. Some of it was the 'journey' from small-town Idaho to the big city to stay with my grandpa, and then go to this huge dome for pro games. The vibe was pretty great there even if it wasn't a great venue overall.

Great weekend of football, despite some bad outcomes!! Kingdome!! I saw King and Astrodome and biggest thing I saw before that was largest wooden dome in Flagstaff Arizona at NYU, Steve Largent was just another star we all tried to copy!! And as a kid going to Seattle from Phoenix, Pikes!! Completely different world!! Remember my uncle trying to explain how you get depressed because of all the rain or something like that.. Don't remember much of what he was yapping about over my mouth noise of chewing fresh seafood!! Don't know if this is common knowledge but it was easier to find a diamond ring on the ground in desert Arizona than delicious fresh seafood!! And seeing the dome stadium, seeing a pro game inside, dream come true for sure..
Domes no matter how flawed are awesome!!

Another good pickup for the Chiefs. They keep getting better.
