@Alpe d'Huez Rodgers taught Love how to own the Bears. I also agree that the mentoring is rarely the starter but they still receive mentoring. Just in Chiefs case Smith was a stand up guy about it.

10-7 Chiefs at half time and it’s a lot closer game than I thought it’d be at this point. Bucs really only got the ball moving on their touchdown drive after an iffy penalty but then they had to punt after an iffy penalty removed their first down at the end of the half. Chiefs run and quick passing has been good with Kelce coming up big, but none stand close to DHop on their touchdown drive. Both of those catches were excellent and I thought the deep lob was going to be incomplete or intercepted yet he popped it right into his breadbasket. He’s going to be a huge threat as the season progresses and Worthy gets better to take the top off defenses. Both defenses keeping their teams in the game at this point but I think Chiefs will win by 2 scores.

I've posted before, most vet QBs do not mentor rookies. Partly because of what Nomad said - they are competing for the same job. But it's also not their job to do so. The person who mentors and teaches the QBs most on any team is the QB coach, followed by the OC, and HC, and for many players, a private coach they work with in the off-seasons. For some silly reasons fans always assume it's the wise old QB who takes the rookie under his wing to teach him the ropes, day after day. That's fairly tale thinking. It might happen if that QB is really at the end of his career, no threat to the new QB, he will teach the rookie some things, but that's about it. But sometimes even that doesn't happen. I don't think Rodgers taught Love anything before he left.
I agree that its pretty rare that the vet QB is truly mentoring the rook, but shadowing/learning to be an NFL QB from an NFL QB is priceless.

That being said, Daniels is doing pretty well without that (even his 2&3 probably can't offer much), its juts important to remember that he is the exception not the rule. EDIT: Kingsbury is a good fit for JD, but its not the same as watching someone prepare/execute.

Tampa catch that late pick attempt, it was the Chiefs first loss. He did everything right but catch it. That's what it takes, it seems to beat the Chiefs at the moment. Years of playoff football have obviously helped out the Chiefs with all these grind out wins they have been getting...........
They had two potential interceptions back to back and couldn’t come up with it. Hopefully Mahomes ankle isn’t too messed up, I thought Wentz was going to start the way he had to be helped off the field. But biggest reason Bucs lost is they couldn’t get a stop on third down. Someone was either open, Mahomes would scramble around, Bucs couldn’t secure the tackle, or they just got ran over for the first down by the Chiefs. Despite Lions cute attempts failing against the Packers, I still think it’ll be Chiefs vs Lions Super Bowl.

Andrew Luck went 11-5 & playoffs in his rookie season. He still holds the record for most passing yards & game winning drives by a rookie in a single season.

Regarding some of these firesale trades, I think this article nails it. The NFL is approaching what happens in MLB and the NBA. Teams who don't see a chance to really make the playoffs just jettison good players to winning teams, who go all-in when scooping them up, often for almost nothing. It's bad for the league, and greatly reduces any semblance of parity:

The NFL Trade Market is Completely Broken.

The trades in this article here point that out clearly. It almost cements who will make the playoffs, and how few teams really have a chance to get to the Super Bowl.

I don't think some of the depth signings make much difference. They are basically covering for injuries or whatever but signings like Hopkins for Kansas have already showed to make a difference but they were also smart enough to sign Hunt off the street when many other teams such as the Cowboys have struggled at RB and that has also made a difference. No wonder Cowboys fans are in despair, Dak goes on IR and now they trade for a WR ! Quite a few Dallas fans calling for them to blow it up and start again and they are an aging team like the 49ers and Buccs. Cowboys draft and a bare bones free agency looked thin which has now been confirmed and that has added to their other problems such as an out of form Dak and poor defense.

Vegas, Jags, Titans, Panthers, Browns, Saints. These teams will all be accumulating picks while retaining their best pieces. Jets are on the border, hoping to go on an extended run ! According to Rodgers. The Giants are another team as well as the Patriots that need a rebuild.

Hope everyone can enjoy the games….

Bengals at Ravens should be a fun TNF.
Broncos at Chiefs could be Chiefs first L of the season considering they always drop a divisional game at home.
Lions should continue to dominate and feast on the depleted Texans oline and receiver room.
Cardinals have one job, and should hopefully get it done.

Things to considerations here:
Is it torn at the origin (pelivis), or insertion (knee area..three insertions)?
How much of the tendon is torn?

No matter the location, tendons don't repair quickly on their own (low blood flow). If its at the origin, surgury is usually the fix for all of us so I can't image that a pro QB wouldn't have surgy.
If its 'just' one of the insetion heads MAYBE pro level rehab can fix it in a few months.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not a doc!

I believe it is a partial tear at the knee. There's no reason to not think he will be put on IR. In fact, his season could be over. $60m down the toilet. o_O

Ravens, as good as they are, should win. But they have a bad habit of playing to the level of their competition, and blowing games. With the Bengals in must-win mode still, this could be a close, high scoring game .

I don't see Denver beating KC. The Chiefs should win by a score of about 30-24, or 27-20 (same as their last two games, all of their games are like this, really).

I heard Peter King say everyone in America wants to see the Lions and Chiefs in the Super Bowl. I personally don't. I'm beyond sick of the Chiefs. But I also think there's enough slant to how the NFL works, this is as likely of outcome as any, especially with how much love the NFL has for Mahomes, plus Swift and Kelce. If so, the Chiefs will win by a score of about 30-24, or 27-20.

Unless they knock Mahomes out of the game. Lol. The last time the Broncos won at Arrowhead was in 2015 - Manning's last season with the Broncos (0-8 since). The Broncos have always had trouble playing KC on the road: 15-29 all time.

Most interesting division to me right now is the NFC West. All four teams are within a game of each other. Rams have won 3 in a row, but also have barely won each game, and have a -24 point differential. I fear Seattle is a work in progress, and same with Arizona.

49ers at some point will get McCaffrey back, and I presume Hufanga back (wrist), I'm curious if this extra time on IR for Hufanga will help his overall play from his ACL tear a year ago. Also Greenlaw is working out with the team, but being brought back slowly. I said at the beginning of the season how it's a league of attrition, and a key goal will be to get into the playoffs healthy. Is SF doing that?

Chiefs have lost more at home to the AFCW and the games have been closer with the Broncos playing a lot better. It’s a lose-able game but Chiefs have their elite defense and special teams and Mahomes.

2023 lost at Broncos and home to Raiders
2022 no AFCW loss with 5 of the games within 1 score
2021 lost home to chargers and 3 other games within 1 score
2020 lost home to raiders and chargers with 3 other games within 1 score
2019 no AFCW loss with 1 game within 1 score
2018 1 loss at home to chargers with 3 games within 1 score

Maybe Prescott can mentor to Cooper Rush - help develop him as a potential starter for next year? Lol
Maybe Mahomes mentored Chad Henne and that’s why he did so well when he came in for the Chiefs.

Wild back and forth second half. Despite amazing numbers by Burrow, Lamar is just something special. But I'll fully believe in them as a team when they either come back against an elite defense, or (finally) beat KC.

Ravens play three games in a row against top defenses: @ Steelers, @ Chargers, and Eagles. This will be a real acid test for them.

Let's hope Kyle Hamilton isn't too hurt. I'm no doctor but if he tore his achilles he wouldn't have been able to walk on it the way he did, but who knows if anything is broken, or what.
