If Tom Brady gets drafted by the 49ers in the 5th round, how many Super Bowls does Bill Belichick go to?

Meanwhile, two years ago some said Carson Beck was often thought of as an NFL prospect, though some said he was lucky throwing the ball to Bowers. Last season he got a lot of hate for not delivering at Georgia, played hurt, and many wrote him off. He goes to Miami, and takes them to the national championship with the win of his life. They beat the 7th ranked team, the 2nd ranked team, and now the 6th ranked team. While playing on a team many thought didn't even deserve to be in the tournament. He's big, has a decent arm, not a dual threat but reasonably mobile, and just wins, sometimes clutch. But no one is talking about him anymore.

Zero SBs for Belichick. Lol

If you recall, Beck had season-ending Tommy John surgery in December (2024) for a torn UCL on his right elbow. He looks to have recovered 100% showing no signs of any throwing flaws. His arm strength looks good & he spins the ball well.

Bleacher has him as a 3rd rd pick (high-level backup/starter upside). Draft Buzz also has him going in the 3rd rd ranking him as the 6th best QB. But all that could change if he has good showing at the combine/pro day. He has elite size as you pointed out.

I think Belichick gets fired after 2001 or 2002 and probably back to DC somewhere. Brady would still need to be polished but he wins at least 1.

If SF had drafted him instead of famed goat herder Giovanni Carmazzi, I think Steve Mariucci would have developed Brady just fine. Maybe not 10 super bowls, but they would have done well. Had Tom taken longer to develop/play, Mariucci been fired and the trajectory of Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary (who went 45-82, been the coaches, until Harbaugh came along in 2011)? I'm not sure Tom would have lasted so long in such a mess of a system. Alex Smith struggled greatly through it.

No Brady in NE? I think the Patriots don't beat the Raiders in the tuck rule game (should have lost anyway). The following year they traded Bledsoe to Buffalo, and with Brady went just 9-7. So I doubt they would have won the SB with Bledsoe that year either. The following year Belichick revamped their defense, Brady got a lot better, and they went 14-2 and won the SB. Would they have done this with an aging Bledsoe? Damon Huard? Patrick Ramsey (they traded this pick to Washington, who took him)? Rex Grossman or Kyle Boller, who they could have drafted? Those two are more intriguing, but younger, and I'm saying no. What if they had continued to languish in mediocrity, but with a good defense, until a guy named Aaron Rodgers falls to them in the 2005 draft...? But would Belichick been around that long? After a slew of 7-9 seasons? What if they hired Lovie Smith or Mike Mularkey to be HC?

Yes, I'm quoting myself. I read another article where some idiot said the Browns had the 4th best situation for any HC going into next season. These reporters must be idiots. They must never look into details. It's unreal.

RGIII sets things straight, saying it's not only the worst team, it's maybe the worst situation in NFL history. He points out not only the Watson debacle, but how they botched the Mayfield situation. How they will probably start Sanders next year, but drafted Gabriel above him, so they'll likely try to trade him, but likely at a loss. Then have Sanders and Watson on the team, which could be toxic. Also that GM Andrew Barry has to be on a very hot seat, so as HC you could have a new GM the following season, and that GM may want his own coach, especially right as the team finally gets out of the Watson albatross, and (I'm adding) I doubt Sanders is ever going to be a tier 1 QB, maybe not even tier 2 in this league.

As I said before, at least with the Raiders you're starting from scratch. Your own QB, your own staff. You also have a heap of FA money to play with to build the team over the next two years. Zero dead money.
