There's always been a lot of hype around Dallas ever since Jones hired McCarthy. Every preseason camp, Jones says this year's version of the Cowboys are a "SB caliber team" handing out the usual ad nuseam accolades to McCarthy & his staff. Lol

Granted, McCarthy has been very impressive in his 4 yrs at Dallas going 42-25 with two division titles & 3 consecutive 12 win seasons. But his playoff record is terrible - only going 1-2 with his only win against TB last season in the WC round.

I'd say if the team doesn't get to at least the NFC championship, it will be another underachieving failure. McCarthy has got the 10th highest paid QB, an All-World WR & LB, and a pretty solid team all the way around - what's his excuse for not doing better in the playoffs?

Having lived through it at times, this is correct! One thought on the field. Recall in last year's divisional game, the Bills field was somewhat slippery after a wet snow dumping, which may have helped the Bengals in the trenches. I believe Buffalo discussed replacing the turf, but since they are getting an entirely new stadium in 2025, I'm pretty sure it will be the same.

They did not need to. The guy in the video did a crap job of clarifying why. It's because it had been previously vetted through the league. The Patriots had already gone through some sort of process where a contract was already in place if Belicheck were to retire, that the Pats could then just promote Mayo. That's what they did.

I posted several times about Mayo. It's been well known for some time that Kraft, even Belicheck, spoke very highly of him, with much talk that he would be a future HC there. Why so many reporters in the last week were all puzzled and quizzicle as to who could possible get the HC job shows how lazy they are.

"As you know, my QB that you signed to a huge contract chokes in big games. Oh, and this latest blowout loss to the 49ers proves God doesn't like you Jerry."

Let's not forget though that Deshaun Watson, Kyler Murray, and Russell Wilson are all paid more. And Daniel Jones and Dak have very similar contracts, with Derek Carr not far behind.

Expect Dak to be aiming high on his next contract extension especially after this season. Won't be 40 mill anymore Jerry..............

I'm having a hard time predicting the first game. I think in the end Cleveland's defense will prevail. But I also see Joe Flacco making some impressive clutch throws, and a few bad ones. I'm also pretty sure Browns DC Jim Schwartz will throw all sorts of things at Stroud.

Almost everything tells me KC should win a fairly low scoring game, with both teams heavily running. Score may be something like 19-13. But the weather will be brutally cold and windy. Both the physical as well as psychological impact will be something and take a toll. This only leaves one question of course: How many players will be out there in short sleeves? :fearscream:

If the wind isn't that bad (and it's not snowing) I don't see why they can't throw the ball as usual (a couple of forecasts I looked at say 10-15 mph winds & no snow at kickoff).

I was looking back at the famous Ice Bowl - 1967 NFC championship game between Dallas & GB at Lambeau Field. It's still the coldest game in NFL history:  -13 with -36 windchill at kickoff. It was so cold that the officials couldn't use their metal whistles because they were sticking to their lips. And several players on both teams had to be treated for frostbite. Sadly, even a fan died from exposure. I don't think the numbers in KC are going to come close to this.

Surprisingly, both teams threw the ball as usual per their season tendencies. Bart Starr threw 24 times for almost 200 yds & 2 scores. Dandy Don Meredith threw 25 times. And receivers didn't have gloves back then only those hand warmers sewn on the front of their jerseys (can you imagine the pain in catching a hard, frozen football in -35 windchill with your bare hands?). These guys didn't have anything close to the high-tech cold weather gear these players have now. They didn't complain & toughed it out the best they could given the circumstances.

So, if the wind vectors aren't that bad at Arrowhead - and it's not snowing hard - I'd being really disappointed if Mahomes & Tua don't throw as usual. And the one's with the 3D shoulders & big biceps will be wearing short sleeves! Lol

Why? So the fans can be kept warm & comfortable? Lol. Pro football is played in the winter time - and the elements unfortunately come with it. Check out that link I posted on the famous Ice Bowl. Those were some tough hombres back then.

In my HS state championship game (December 1978 - Fairview field in Boulder), we played in the low teens with single digit windchills. It was tough - every hit I made hurt - but it was a blast. All we had was thermal underwear that we bought the night before from the old Woolworth's stores & our lineman wore bulky garden gloves. Lol

The ‘Freezer Bowl’ in January 1982 between the Bengals and Chargers was right up there with the Ice Bowl.

Also the Blair Walsh Project game in January 2016 was amongst the coldest nfl games ever.

What a first season for Demeco Ryans. Stroud becomes the youngest QB to win a playoff game. The two third quarter turnovcers killed the game off quickly. Still, after losing Chubb and who knows how he comes back, and their QB, the Browns can't be too disappointed. First time in the playoffs for a long time. Browns have the squad to be competitive next season, a few hits in the draft won't hurt them. Texans keep rolling and for a young team this is just the start for them after the previous debacles and mess.
