* can't stand Steven A. Smith. Collingsworth, Bradshaw,Long and Jimmy Johnson need to take a long lunch and not come back
I used to like the Fox pregame, but they palyed it out too much IMO. Plus, I spend WAAAAY too much time watcing football already so I use the pregame time to actually accomplish somthing in my life (not necissarily very much though).

That is tough for Joe Barry. It makes me wonder if something else was going on.

If I’m reading the smoke signals correctly, Vic Fangio unemployed a matter of hours, hired as the Eagles DC, as he was an adviser to them 2 years ago. This is also interesting because Fangio is a smash mouth cover 2 zone guy. His system might play much better for the Eagles than fins.

Curious who really will have power in LA, Harbaugh, or Balke, I mean…

I think that Jim probably had some "If I take the job..." conditions that will give him the power he needs.

Isn't Baalke still with the Jags ? But there are rumors that he is retiring, maybe before he gets replaced ? After what happened at the 49ers I doubt they ever work together again although that seemed to be more about Harbaugh and the owners. Chip Kelly had nothing good to say about Baalke.

What’s everyone’s opinion on the head ref selected for Chiefs at Ravens game who apparently favors the away teams and they have a better record than the home team when he’s the head ref? I’ve seen a lot of up cry from it since it was announced.

Yes. I was being snide. The Chargers currently have no GM. I'm pretty sure Harbaugh will be the de facto GM. Someone may get hired, but Harbaugh will have majority control over player decisions, drafts, FA signings, etc.

NFL loves the Chiefs. The more Taylor Swift the better. Mahomes will still likely find something to whine about in the game though, helping keep the ref from looking too biased.

Is this all conjecture? Maybe?! You tell me! Of course they still have to play the game...right? Here's an article by Warren Sharp, who has been writing about sports and the NFL for aeons, about this topic, plus some numbers showing just how slanted the ref has been.

The best thing NFL can be hoping for is Chiefs and Lions to get Swift and Eminem at the Super Bowl as fans though Eminem has kept a far lower profile. But I think Ravens will play like how they dismantled the other best teams.

Is that a joke because he drops too many passes and makes too many mistakes?! Chiefs own report shows him as limited practice. Joe Thuney not practicing, bad pec, may not play. Pacheco not practicing. I don't know how much Pacheco not practicing truly matters. He will play, and if KC is going to win, they will do it with Mahomes arm more than anything. The one player I'd be concerned about with the Chiefs is having Willie Gay limited. He's their cover/spy LB. Basically the guy who will have his eyes on Lamar all game.

If I were Baltimore, I'd be worried if starting CB Marlon Humphrey can't go, or is a liability. He missed the Houston game, and has been limited in practice.

Carolina found a glutton for punishment in Dave Canales. He will be their next HC and punching bag whipping boy for the hyper-criticism and ire of David Tepper. I just hope Canales agent made damn certain that contract is fat and fully guaranteed, because I'll be surprised if he lasts 2 seasons.

No, I already said before that I don’t think he’s going to play another game. He was a healthy scratch in a game this year and has missed a lot of games. He hasn’t played since his mistakes against Bills and followed that up against the Patriots. He and MVS had also been acting out on the field when Mahomes had a poor throw to them. Honestly I don’t think he’s injured at all, they just don’t want to play him in fear of something happening and possible punishment.

49ers fans don't care for for him after previous games. But interestingly the SB ref team is a composite team selected by the NFL so Vinovich won't have his regular crew with him.

I have no idea nor do I care. The referee/official bitching is getting ridiculous. It's amazing what reply has done - it gets it right 99% of the time. Go back & watch some of the old games pre-replay that are being shown & enhance with technology on YouTube. Incredible number of missed calls, botched calls, e.g. catches that hit the ground first that are ruled catches, good, clean catches as the receiver hits the ground that are ruled incomplete, fumbles where the ball carrier's knee was clearly down, and so on & so forth.

If you look at the state of the art technology with today's replay - it's virtually made the game near perfect (just wait until A.I. gets involved). I know there's an issue with pass interference & holding because those calls can't be reviewed. I think the officials pretty much catch the most egregious holdings (they could technically call holding on every pass play). On pass interference they get it right  most of the time, though if the pass is not catchable, then P.I. should  never be called. As a DB, I was coached both at HS & college level to "drill" the receiver if the pass was not catchable (I remember my DB coach from college grabbing my facemask & yelling "this isn't flag-football - you hurt that receiver & make him think twice about running a route in your zone).

Imagine if there was no replay & how screwed up things would be - now there would be some legitimate bitching. Lol.

The NFL clearly wants Swift in the SB 😁🤣

Bill B moving closer to retirement ?
What jobs are left? Seattle, and I see almost zero chance of Mumbles going there. And Washington. This one is possible I suppose. But I think Washington would have to view him as their "bridge" coach to the future, presuming they can't find anyone they want right now to build the team. He'd basically be an extension and perhaps improvement over Rivera. But would Washington really want that?

Did you read the article? It had nothing to do with replay and everything to do with perceived bias. The guy who wrote it, Warren Sharp, noted that the head referee for this game, Shawn Smith, flagged home teams at a noticeably higher rate over the last three years for: unnecessary roughness, roughing the passer, illegal formation and illegal shift penalties. None of those can be reviewed let alone challenged.

Is it truly bias? Who knows? Is Sharp right? Who knows? He has been on shows and has his own website and business on football stats, odds, fantasy, point spreads, etc. and I'm sure welcomes the attention. But it's food for thought though within its own right.

As to getting officiating correct, I'll repeat what I've said a dozen times, listen to Dean Blandino and look at what he did with the XFL, and is doing (with Mike Periera) for the upcoming UFL. They got it completely right.

Dan Quinn had a second interview with Washington.

Eagles expected to sign Vic Fangio as the new DC and are interviewing Kellen Moore for the OC job.
