I loved the interview with Lawrence after the game when asked about the thought process for that last scoring play: "Sheer Panic...." Incredible athletic performance by him saving his offense and great defense from the Jags. Felt bad for Mahomes....reason to hate the special teams must be boiling up about now.
Special teams helped carry the majority of weight with the defense in 2023 and 2024 for him.

And the NFL QB circus continues. So, Taylor thinks that Flacco, as poorly as he's been playing this season, will come in & save the day? Lol. Flacco has not aged well this season. Near rock bottom stats with only 2 TDs to 6 picks, 60 Rtg & 2nd worse QBR of 26. At least Rodgers is throwing the ball pretty well this season & winning. Flacco the complete opposite.

We all can see Browning is pathetic out there & probably is not even NFL back up material anymore. But why not start QB3 - Brett Rypien? He has previous starting experience. If he's good enough to make a NFL roster, then he should be good enough to be given an opportunity to start in situations like this.

They have to be saving Rypien from the offensive line by sacrificing Flacco. Wouldn’t be surprised if he retires after 1-3 games.

Well, he did say one of his reasons for continuing is so his younger kids can see dad play. But he goes to the Bengals he could get killed behind their OL. Maybe his children will see their father die with honor in battle. ;)

Wow, that’s a game the Chiefs almost always win. Their offense looked good and the best they’ve been in awhile while being against a top 10 defense and their defense won the turnover battle. I thought when Mahomes got out of the sack that was going to be them winning the game.
Statistically, the Chiefs beat the Jags in every offensive category including TOP. The Chiefs even won the turnover margin with the Jags having two (pick & fumble) & KC only one (pick). But Mahomes' pick 6 was costly & probably the difference in the game.

Other than the pick 6, Mahomes' performance was excellent especially his running. He threw for over 300 but rushed for 60 yds & a score. He was the Chief's leading rusher in the game (again) & he's also now the team's leading rusher 5 games into the season (though I would think Reid would prefer either Pacheco or Hunt as the team's leading rusher. Lol).

I don't think there should be any panic with the Chiefs faithful. They're only one game behind the Chargers & Broncos for the division lead (they still play the Broncos twice & get another shot at the Chargers).

Interestingly, they started 2-3 through 5 weeks in the 2021 season, then went on a tear winning 10 out of 12 finishing 12-5. That was the one year they didn't go to the SB losing to the Bengals in the AFCCG.

There’s no reason to panic now since they didn’t lose to the Giants. That would have been terrible. They in a way control their destiny for the division but not quite. The issue would be how far they go and if they stop making the dumb mistakes, since they’re worse than before.

They did but this year I’d say the remaining teams are harder than 2021 and the other major difference is that their special teams have been making mistakes it wasn’t making previously. They were also winning close games which they haven’t done yet.

I still think they’re winning 11-12 games, only 10 if they keep losing the close games. I don’t think they’re beating the Lions or Bills, Commanders and Colts are 50/50, and then maybe another divisional game but that’s a big maybe.

That's like feeling bad for Jeff Bezos when the stock market has a bad week. He's had an embarrassment of good fortune, and impressive coaching and players around him, while making millions of dollars. Pat could be playing for the Jets, Browns, Raiders...
I doubt Mahomes wants anyone feeling bad for him. He's too much of a competitor for that & usually takes full responsibility for the team's woes. His "embarrassment" of good fortune is because of his talent level. I have him as the all-time best mobile pocket passer with Steve Young a close second, IMO. Both have very similar playing styles & careers in passing & rushing numbers, and postseason success (the only real difference is Young was always under center & Mahomes is mostly in shotgun. Lol).

I get it - the coaching has been great & he's had a good infrastructure around him thanks to Andy Reid. But the league has never seen that kind of arm strength coupled with top notch elite passing skills, and the athleticism & mobility of a QB that size (at 6'2" 225, he's as big as Franco Harris). And Mahomes off-platform throws are some of the best I've ever seen.

He's been listed as an unanimous "Tier 1" selection for 5 straight seasons now since becoming a full time starter in his 2nd year (most since Aaron Rodgers' 6 straight seasons). And some of the GMs, HCs & coordinators that compiled the list are calling Mahomes the greatest QB...ever.

Not yesterday evening. It's 2025
Okay and you know what hurt the team more; Mahomes throwing an interception giving the Jags a 10-14 point swing into the Jags favor, Jones standing there with his nuts in his hand watching Lawrence cosplay as Mahomes running it in for the game winning score, or the receivers on multiple occasions lacking awareness on where the ball is. They were overcoming the special teams mistakes and penalties but you can’t overcome turnovers, penalties, and lack of effort. The real blame should be on the coaching staff because they control two of those things.

Team owner Jerry Jones has been fined $250,000 by the league for an inappropriate gesture to a fan during Sunday's game, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero

HC Jonathan Gannon has been fined $100,000 by the club for a sideline altercation Sunday with running back Emari Demercado, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported. The NFL will not take action for the incident. Gannon must be pulling his hair out. Many Cardinals fans said the game was an embarrassment.

I didn't even know he was still trying to play. Was never the same after his broken ankle or first ACL tear. Then tore it again, seemingly barely staying healthy after that. He sort of lived off the highlight of that one handed catch. Other players have made similar great catches, but that one seemed to stick. I remember when he and Victor Cruz were a good duo for the Giants, though only overlapped a little. Cruz salsa dance was a bit much after a bit, but it was amusing the time he and Beckham did it together. I felt bad for Cruz when he tore his patellar tendon right in his prime. Guy was never the same either, his career basically over.

No kidding...he seems like quite the family man as seen in this video (how many kids does he have...five?):

I wonder if Flacco will keep his residence in Cleveland & commute to practice in Cinncinati via helicopter or private jet or something like that? Cleveland to Cincy is only about 240 miles.

Easy to see why the Raiders wanted Coen. And he is looking like the guy who gets the most out of Trevor Lawrence. Which also makes it easy to see why he didn't want to go to the Raiders to coach...uh, (checks notes) Aiden O'Connell or Cam Miller.

Considering Geno Smith is playing worse/older than Joe Flacco, the Raiders are going to have to roll the dice I feel next draft and find their future QB. That may also entice the next young coach to the team when Pete finally retires. Raiders missed out on both Coen and Ben Johnson I think because of a lack of young QB.

I don't think the Raiders are going to get their future QB in the next draft. All the top guys projected as 1st rounders haven't been playing very well & in one case already suffered a significant injury (Manning, Klubnik, Allar, Beck, Mateer, etc). It's looking like a dud class similar to this past draft.

IMO, I think the Raiders should try to acquire Will Levis. All indications are that his shoulder surgery on his throwing arm went well & he's now in the rehab phase. Barring any complications, he should teady to go by next preseason.

Levis has elite size and a cannon arm that's on the same level as Mahomes, Allen & Stafford. He also has good speed & athleticism, and is classified as a mobile pocket passer. His debut with the Titans back in 2023 was very impressive. He made some elite throws in that game & looked like starting material. Unfortunately, things went south for him as the season progressed with major accuracy issues & getting sacked a lot. And of course, there were the clashes with Vrabel that didn't help his cause. Levis isn't going to be satisfied as a backup to Cam Ward. Levis wants to start, and being a high 2nd rd pick, that's where his ceiling is at.

Look at the rebirth & rejuvenation of guys like Mayfield, Darnold, D. Jones, Mac Jones, etc, who were all deemed underachievers & even "busts" by their original teams but have found success with their 2nd & even 3rd teams..

Levis needs a change of scenery & perhaps with the right coaches & system, he, too, can find success. Too much raw talent there to be wasted as a non-starter.

Looky there - Pete Carroll - at his pro day:

Levis problem has been bad decision making, resulting often in forced throws and inaccuracy. He just never seemed to adjust to NFL speed. That in theory can be coached out of a guy, given time. And he has the physical tools to be in this league. He's a beast with a huge arm, and while not a dual threat like Josh Allen, could have his mobility and sized worked into his game. You may remember me liking him back pre-draft, as I used to live about 15 blocks from where he went to high school, and likely rode my bike by there 100 times.

As much as Levis struggled last year, his stats were better than Geno Davis this year.

I'd also reach for Levis over Zach Wilson and Malik Willis though at this point.

Eagles at the Giants tonight. While Philly should win this game, they could run into some difficulty. They haven't played against Dart, who has given NY some spark, and as I noted last week the Eagles struggled and looked worn out late in the game in their loss to Denver. This is also Thursday night, so a short week.

Impressive win for the Giants, Dart, Skattebo. Jaxon Dart has just completely turned the energy of the Giants around.

Eagles didn't just look worn out, they looked finished. Like, bad post Super Bowl hangover.

No kidding! That was a beating the Giants gave the Eagles! Dart is the real deal - you get a dual-threat that can throw the ball. And Skattebo has to be pound for pound one of the strongest backs in the league. He's a battery ram - you ain't stopping him at goal line. He's runs north-south & is hard to tackle (98 yds & 3 scores!). What a 4th rd steal! Can you believe the Giants out rushed the Eagles 172-73!

The Eagles looked pathetic. The Broncos lost had more of an effect on them & clearly carried over to this game. And Hurts didnt look like any SB MVP QB out there tonight. Lol. Eagles first back to back losses since the 2023 season. If they don't get a
their act together, they're not going back to the SB.

If the Eagles keep playing like this it’ll be hard to win the division, let alone make the Super Bowl. They’re off the 2024 Chiefs and entering the 2022 Bucs era.

Giants have found their crazier Dak and Elliot. Completely changed the energy of the team and the team was visibly annoyed Wilson came back into the game for a little. There’s no way they saw the offseason between Dart and Wilson and decided to go with Wilson.
