A team consisting of legless, headless riders?

Need to save weight for climbing.

Have you seen the squad list? I like it. 12 official riders:

Aritz Bagües (25, ex-Orbea & Euskadi)
Ander Barrenetxea (22, ex-Ibaigane)
Mikel Bizkarra (25, ex-Orbea & Euskadi, was part of the PinoRoad project last year so finished the season in amateurs)
Garikoitz Bravo (25, ex-Caja Rural & Euskaltel, was riding in Portugal for Efapel this year)
Imanol Estévez (21, ex-Zirauna)
Egoitz García (28, ex-Caja Rural & Cofidis)
Adrián González (22, ex-Ibaigane)
Jon Ander Insausti (21, ex-Gipuzkoa-Eki, believe related to the Izagirre brothers)
Unai Intziarte (23, ex-Gipuzkoa-Eki)
Eneko Lizarralde (21, ex-Gipuzkoa-Eki)
Haritz Orbe (23, ex-Orbea & Euskadi)
Beñat Txoperena (22, ex-Euskadi)

Mostly young riders, with a few who are being saved from the end of the Euskadi team, but Bravo's and García's contacts ought to be able to get them a few race starts in France and Portugal to round out the calendar (considering how limited the Spanish one now is).

Some of them are young enough to still be able to do something though. Agree, García's palmarès would suggest he ought to be able to do something at the ProConti level or a more established Continental squad, but he can do a decent job of leading. And is part of these young riders not delivering to do with the wheels coming off the Fundación Euskadi over the last three years? At least we get to find out.

At the very least, another team to turn up at the remaining few races to try to pick some meat from the carcass of Spanish road cycling is a positive thing.

I don't have the impression that anyone in this team has ever been "hyped", whatever that means.

It's an interesting experiment to start a Continental team from scratch with a bunch of elite riders. Riders like Imanol Estevez or Aritz Bagues rode great elite seasons in 2014, but especially in Spain elite success or even domination is hardly followed up by great pro performances (I look at you, Arkaitz Duran).

That's full of hyped young Basque riders who never delivered. I'm surprised that Egoitz García didn't find anything better.

its a poor design with way too much black. Dull.

Better colour on the Murias jersey, but the design is mediocre.

I give you the design, but Boavista is historically black - from cycling to football etc. That should not change because other teams are taking this same chromatic approach. It would be like demanding the NZ All Blacks to take the black away from their kits, for example.

Can't compare cycling with a two team sport, where most "systems" operate with home and away kits.

Boavista should design a cycling kit which works well in the peloton.

No more Omloop for him then.
And agree that these riders are not (at least internationally) overhyped. From the start I was always given the opinion that the likes of Orbe, Bagues, and Txoperrena would never even reached Euskaldom level.

But I think this is OT

It's a matter of identity, though. It is important for sponsors and team to keep the brand recognizable and easily associable with the insitution. Not to mention black is actually a colour that stands out well in the Portuguese peloton.

cheers.

Well, Steppers are black and their main sponsors colors are blue (Quick-Step) and turquoise (Omega Pharma).

Belisols colors are blue and green. And yet the team rides completely in red.

Boavista isn't very well known obviously, but I understand you. Boavista is black and white and not anything else imo. It's more or less like a national kit.
