Mejía, professional between 1989 and 1995 ran on the Motorola squad, began to study medicine in 1998 and after seven years got his medical degree at the University of Manizales. Linked from the beginning to the cycling world, was a doctor in the Colombian national team and now has agreed to be the doctor of continental Movistar.
Nicked "El Cometa" who turns 41 in January, had the second best result for a Colombian in the Tour de France in 1993 behind Miguel Indurain, Tony Rominger and Zenon Jaskula, and that mark is only surpassed by the third place in Fabio Parra Tour '88 won and disputed by Perico Delgado. Ohlala interview

Atencion Unzué:

In this second part of the interview with BICICICLISMO, the Navarre manager is excited and pleased to have found good support in Colombia, in Libardo Leyton and Alvaro Mejia. By this way, the best talents may/can become part of the ProTeam set short and medium term.

Will Movi 2 pass on riders to ProTeam Movi 1 throughout the season?
Could be, but normaly always at the end of the season. They are two different teams ! but will be fully equal in the image that is, jerseys, bikes, etc ... I think it will be an interesting project and I especially am very excited.

What is the role of Leyton?
Will be responsible sporting director.

When will we know the team roster?
We intend to officially make it there in January. In fact, we will announce it after Christmas because we have to create a new legal structure than that of the overall included the ProTeam. In addition, there are no contractual commitments as here, from 1 January to 31 December, people are signing dates, some end after the Vuelta al Táchira. Almost until the end of January we will not have some riders. Half the team will be from Colombia and the rest will be Costa Rican, Mexican, Panamanian, Ecuadorian, Venezuelan, Uruguayan and others ...

What will be the team's official name?
To be decided it will not be the same. Maybe it's Movistar América or Movistar Team 2.

only 5 to 6 Col ....

With teams acting in TdU and TdSL at present Eusebio Unzué is in Bogotá Colombia to finalize the start of Movistar 2 and planning the team presentation.

At his age doing the most prestigeous project in his life Eusebio explains to revistamundociclistico: Unzué who will be in Bogota until next Saturday, when asked about the relevance of his team in America he said: "Here we are in contact with Movistar Colombia, to handle all matters related to administration and management of the team. We are in the plan to finalize all details related to the roster of riders, equipment, uniforms, vehicles, location, staff and everything that revolves around building a team that we want to match the best in the continent American and as a reflection of our team Pro-tour in Europe.

"Is the roster set? 'Yes'
Practically we have, but please wait a few more days to officially disclose the names of those who are going to integrate. I can tell you it will be 15 to 16 riders of which 5 or 6 would be Colombian and other Latin countries where telecommunications operator Movistarhas a stake.

Is there a time set for an official launch? 'Yes'
Before returning to Madrid on Saturday I will let you know. We will try to present the Pro-Tour team in Spain and at the same time we would like to present here in Colombia Movistar Americá.

Racing Calendar?
We are finishing it. But let's be very careful in selecting, at the latest the team will start racing in the first week of March.

Well I leave the honor to Unzué that will be come Saturday amigo Ryo

No, no please honorable Ryo don't degrade our Fred(d)y G. (ex- Savio born 1975) this team Rocks.
Do the math sunny boy > best Ecuadorían, best Pañamesa, best Bolivian, best Cõstarican, the best from Uruguay, a trio muscled Méxicans to stand guard, 2 of Venezuela's future best and a handfull of Colombian tigers the world will get to know.

tahtd oesnt'matter. mexican riders are far from the best in latin america, seem for ecuador, guama is good but there are 50 better in colombia alone.

obviously no argentineans, chileans or brazilians because they cost too much but at least they are the best sprinters and crono riders, top venezuelan talents yes especially alarcon. colombian talent. nope. 2 old guys like munoz and freddy that aren't on top level anymore and rest isn't exceptional talent except angarita as a sprinter. soliz is a god in bolivia but not in colombia, has everything to proove on low altitude races. urena is a sprinter but far from the best riders in panama, like carretero who is an amazing talent or yelko gomez. brenes is a great prospect, but nothing like a top colombian talent in mountains.
