2 cycling zsars meet ...

Publicado October 13 | This Wednesday morning, met at the office of the Colombian Cycling Federation, the general manager of Caisse d'Epargne, Eusebio Unzue, Libardo Leyton and President Jorge Ovidio González from the cycling governing body of Colombia, in order to address the issues related to Team Movistar 2011.
During the meeting they exchanged many ideas and commitments to move forward with technical and administrative aspects of this new Movistar entity that will be based in our country Colombia.
The Federation will provide all tools for this new project, in reality Jorge Ovidio González suggested to the 2 directors of the Movistar to include a number of riders born in Colombia to expand our cycling internationally and that within a short time the team will be participating in competitions at international level, using the contacts the Spanish coach has in Europe.
Unzue will return to Spain this Wednesday night.

Unzue interview:

How big of a budget is the assembly of the Movistar II?
We have not closed that budget, but is about one million euros (2,600 million pesos) plus.
(p.s. that is huge for Colombian standards you can multiply that by 5 at least compared to Euro cash burning standard)

When will the first time all will be together?
In the first 15 days of November in Bogotá.

What is the infrastructure ?
A bus, truck and so far, three cars. In addition, we have 10 people, apart from the riders, including medical, media officer, masseurs and mechanics. Concentration will have a house on the outskirts of Bogotá.

Are there names of other staff?
With Libardo Leyton we have made much progress. The team will be about 26 or 28 people.

What is the idea with the Movistar-2011?
Cover the entire Latin American calendar.

How many cyclists will be hired?
Between 15 and 16. for 2011 and from there to a more ambitious 2012

What nationalities?
Half the team will be in Colombia and other nearby countries cyclists from: Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.

Do any contract?
I have the names and will expose the whole plan next week. A group of outstanding riders I have spoken to, end of the month is the final outcome of all riders in the team.

What will be the average age?
The competition schedule is serious and riders will be composed with a veteran of more than 30 years, that we need for experience. Cyclists will be young, but experienced. We also look for some talented people working with the mentality of Europe, but from here.

Is the Pro Tour team also coming to concentrate on Colombia?

This country is a great area to prepare for a team and we thought that the whole Pro Tour Team will come to prepare here.

Desired race program: UCI TopCat: Tour de San Luis, Amgen Tour of California, Philadelphia International Championship, GP Québec, GP Montreal and races from the UCI America Tour 2.2 calendar.
.
As a Continental Team they are not allowed to start in ProTour races like the ones in Canada.

Neither Unisa/Australia national team would be allowed to ride Tour Down Under, but UCI is good at changing rules wherever they want.

The exception is a national team of the organisation country. However, obviously Movistar does not have a sufficient amount of Canadian riders.

Movistar 2 can't race in the Tour of California either, because as a .HC race the only Continental teams that can enter are those from the host country - unless, like Hainan, Qinghai Lake and Langkawi (ie all the .HC races on the Asia Tour) the UCI America Tour allows all Continental teams on the continent to race such events.

thank you very much everybody.

i really hope that betancur will find a slot to run the giro with acqua sapone. he can do very well in the mountains.
there are too many hard stage in a row in the third week and there will be room for attacking climbers. GC guys will not go for stages every day and betancur maybe will be able to show in some stages. i remember very well what he was able to do in montegrappa in the giro bio: he can repeat such a performance.
it will be more difficult for fabio duarte at feox: probably gianetti will bring sastre at the giro and carlos will need all the team to run for him.

colombia es pasion will be professional?

ciao

This rider doesn't exist. Reported by the guys at CyclisMAG, but sure created by some spanish dude.

For those not familiar with spanish language, 'gilipollas' is equal to '***'.
