Basso certainly for the Giro, I doubt he will do the Tour. nibali for the Tour, but the parcours doesn't suit him so well in 2012, so I can imagine that he might want a crack at the Giro.

I would love for Nibali to go to the Giro but it might be unrealistic to send him to Bassos' playground.

Looking at the parcours, I agree it's the Giro where I'd send him with intention to win.

Would be interesting if Basso won it, as there hasn't been a three-time Giro winner since...(can you guess?).

Hard to see Nibali out-climbing Basso at the Giro, but then again, he "only" got dropped by Ivan on Zoncolan last time. Team tactics could also play a part, if raced hard I think Basso would have Nibali under the pump like the Giro this year, but if they don't need to race hard to win they could roll around with 1-2s.

If there is no Scarponi it would be two consistent climbers, from the same team against an inconsistent yet brilliant climber in Rujano and then another solid rider, ex Liquigas rider Kreuziger.

good move my asz, nibali can't win giro even without michele and rujano.the thing is he won't even ride it.ivan just wants to hide himself from the number 1 favourite position for il giro that's all.he will be the captain but they will announce it very late.

This was my thought as well.
