Franziska Preuss is sick and will not start the individual, so she can‘t win the discipline globe there. Typical.

I see we have a comedian in our midst. She probably wouldn't have finished ahead of all of Vittozzi, Voigt and Häcki-Groß anyway, and Simon could also have leapfrogged her with a victory or podium, but it's of course still a shame that we'll never know now. And she would also have been in the mix for the overall podium, if she had been able to avoid sickness alltogether.

Apparently Pellegrino-Barp will be the Italian main duo for the team sprint. That's a strong combination.
Barp shouldn't be underestimated, but overall you're probably rightI’d give them a chance if it was a skate sprint. They’ll find it tough in classic but you never know.
Especially at the minute, Norway would either have to chase Sweden, or try and smash them if the men went first.Once again, why are team sprints a thing and even assign medals at the big events? They should be replaced by mixed relays asap...
Been saying that ever since the event was incepted, it's a dreadful event. Kept copping flak for saying that but still stand by it. Its best function is becoming, given the repeated short efforts with short breaks in between, to scout who might become potential biathlon converts in the midfield runners.Once again, why are team sprints a thing and even assign medals at the big events? I think it's about who has the skis in these conditions; Victoria Carl looks to be on a really good pair today.Nice bump up of form for the Finns on home turf, lol.
It's distance Classic which the Finns tend to prefer because praise be to Finland, the skis are often quite conditions dependent and the Finns will have most experience of dealing with the conditions on home snow, and many of them are fresher because they have not bothered with the North American leg because the schedule out there was sprint- and skate-heavy.Nice bump up of form for the Finns on home turf, lol
Pretty much this. Krista looks very fresh to me; the break helped her obviously. Diggins paying for staying in NA and doing the Birkie.. Flora Dolci didn't even start today for example. It's distance Classic which the Finns tend to prefer because praise be to Finland, the skis are often quite conditions dependent and the Finns will have most experience of dealing with the conditions on home snow, and many of them are fresher because they have not bothered with the North American leg because the schedule out there was sprint- and skate-heavy.
If I was the ruler of the world every distance race would be an individual start; this race wouldn't have been nearly as good as a mass start imho. Great battle! Huge gaps, some due to a solid course, some will be wax, some will be fatigue from the North American leg. I like Matintalo, great result for her today, always have a soft spot for the skiers who are almost but not quite tippy-top of the heap. Entertaining today.Going to be tight, Pärmäkoski lost 10" to Matintalo in the last couple of k - but Vicky Carl has been strong throughout and seems to be going backwards as against Krista's time in the last part... less than 2 seconds in it. Good contest!
So maybe it's that Matintalo finished super well than that Pärmäkoski finished badly?
