The way Ponsiluoma skis (and shoots actually) he may as well try 10k. at the WC. Swedish team isn't too strong and he should get a place.

Yeah, not the hardest course (but neither is Trondheim..) and Northug went on blank skis and double poled the whole thing. All the others were on kick wax, and it did seem like the national team guys were struggling a bit with the skis.

It was a Norwegian Cup Race and classic, but yeah very similar. He did that race on blank skis as well (and there was a lot of talk afterwards that he had been changing track a lot in the climbs, kind of simulating skating).

The one who mentioned the blank skis thing was Cologna who was commenting an World Cup race one weekend later, when he added some context to the result.

Petter Northug, probably fighting some sort of midlife crisis to stay relevant, is now apparently in close discussions with Austria about changing nation and compete for them in the Olympics next year and the World Champs in 2027.

I've only heared about Liechtenstein and Mexico being an option, but clearly Austria is more interesting mow that they have a bigger waxing budget and a capable main Skiman

Italy? He’s working with the Austrian ski federation towards Austrian citizenship. It seems to actually be really serious as well.

He’s said they’ve only Ben working towards Austria, I think they have some exemption in the rules of naturalization for “special people” which makes it doable without needing to live there for a specific time before. But I don’t really believe it before I see the confirmation that it’s done an dusted.

I didn't watch it, but due to a lack of snow, they used the 3.3k lap
