Sundling going off like a steaming train in comparison, perhaps the plan for Fosnæs is to get Sundling to expend the energy of her sprint on the chase, but if so, she's letting her back on a little too easily you'd feel as Sundling should catch her quite quickly and have time to recover.

Fosnaes should have started decently hard and Sundling would have never had a chance, don‘t know what she‘s doing.

This was just completely insane from Sundling. In the first 2,4 km she was 15 seconds faster than Johaug! Fosnæs didn’t do a great first lap, but it was made look a lot worse, because Sundling is skiing out of this world.

Well, if Sundling doesn't drop Fosnaes with the first or second acceleration, she could possibly be in trouble.

Carl probably needs to drop Joensuu too in the battle for bronze, Carl obviously has got good sprint-to-the-line pedigree but Joensuu is a regular top qualifier in sprints and if not for her propensity to fall over would probably have a much bigger number of podiums to her name,

Why would Sundling need to drop Fosnaes?

Well, if Fosnaes was being tactical, Sundling had to make up over 30 seconds, and if you don't drop your opponent the first or second time, you could feel it mentally later on. It happens in cycling all the time. I know Sundling is a class or two above, but that's why they do the races.

I don‘t think I‘ve seen Van der Poel catch Küng or something and then feel it mentally for no reason and he definitely wouldn‘t need to drop him before the sprint.

Good stuff from Sundling. Had it not been for the crash in the skiathlon, she could very well be at 4 golds now. She’ll likely do the 50km, but if the conditions are soft and mushy, it’ll be tougher for her.

Emma Ribom should thank her teammates more than she usually does. Linn Svahn is probably punching the air somewhere.
