What were the odds of Dale-Skjevdal, Fillon Maillet and Ponsiluoma all going home with individual gold medals?

Birthday boy gets another podium. Perhaps it is his cheat day, and maybe he's allowed to eat some cake as well ;)

Dale showing that he should have been selected for the relay instead of Botn. Perfect race from him.

Lægreid finished this Olympics with 5 medals in 5 races but 0 golds.

Fillon Maillet was insanely good on the skis once again with two misses less he would have likely won, but with three golds and now a bronze he is the male biathlete of the Olympics for me.

If you simulate tge sprint and the pursuit 100 times, iin 70 of them Laegreid wins 2 golds. In problem 29 he wins at least one gold.
But in the Olympics, both, Ponsiluoma and Dale both won. Though luck for Laegreid.

Happy for Dale though, to think he didn't even start the season un the A team..

I doubt Laegreid would win even 25 of 100 sprints.

I wouldn't think this course and conditions (up to 8°C towards the end of the race) are very suitable to Iversen, and no idea if Amundsen is back at his best. So I'd think there's hope to not see a podium sweep.

His classic performances this year have been pretty underwhelming. Im thinking Korostelev being the only one (if its true that Niskanen is sick) that could stop a full Norwegian podium. Im hoping for a Musgrave sensation.
I hear you, but if there was ever a race which could turn around someone like Gus it was that last lap of the Team Sprint. I know, it was a skate, but never underestimate the power of momentum! If nothing else I go into it optimistic (but accepting there may be a high probability of my being wrong... :D ).

The 50km always seems to throw up some random results - I reckon we'll see someone unexpected in the podium.

My main hope is for a few skiers to go hard early and cause chaos, then you never know what might happen

I understand what you’re saying, but I’m with many here that see the sprint as just a separate category than traditional cross country races that are ant their essence endurance events. But we never know, perhaps Schumaker will have a Karlsson-like superb performance after being a middling-placement skier in the months prior.

I think you confused me with another poster - I wasn't the one who suggested Schumacher :) I personally don't really see it with him either but you never know!

I was going to go with Graz for the podium, but I see he isn't on the start list so I guess that isn't happening

Apologies! You’re right I thought I was replying to dobrien. Not that I know what I’m talking about anyways ;)

I haven't really read much about sickness in other sports during this Olympics recently. but in cross country they are dropping out like flies. After Poromaa yesterday, Hakkola and Pellegrino are out as well now.

I just read that he was promised a 16 hour sex marathon by a Russian porn actress if he takes a medal today.

No clue if this really adds to his motivation or not, but apparently the expectations in Russia are high. Unlike others he is fit, and Panzhinskiy also said that he expects him on the podium.
