Nys guys finish first - Thibau, second of his name, Coronation Thread

Was about to say. He already won one. But as I already pointed out earlier, when he isn't feeling it, he doesn't fight for it. There have been plenty of stages where he should have been able to finish in the top 20 but instead he finishes somewhere at the back. And then not dissimilar stages, he wins.

Ugh, why aren't you guys talking about this instead?

From Het Nieuwsblad:

“The last passage on the Cauberg was too much for me,” Thibau Nys readily admitted afterwards. “I could still ride fast, but the real punch was gone. It was good, but the last ten kilometers were too much. I regretted that I was a bit far away when Pogacar accelerated. At the same time, I also realized that I would probably have paid for that effort quickly.”

Not at all a disgrace for the 22-year-old Lidl-Trek rider, who took part in the Amstel Gold Race for the first time. Nys eventually crossed the finish line in twelfth place. “I really enjoyed myself,” he beamed. “I noticed that it really is a race that suits me. It was fun. Did I suffer? Yes, definitely. It is magnificent that Skjelmose also managed to win here.”
Think 12th was quite good in his first AGR.

I have hopes for wednesday. Just get him in to a good positition to Huy and we could see a great resultat. Bit worried though that Remco might light up the race before last time Huy.

If Pog does not race he is the clear favourite for me. FW beeing only 200 km is an advantage for him and his team, makes the life of people like Evenepoel and Helay much harder, plus they have Skjelmose to mark the moves.

It's a bit what i expected, but i'm very happy he finished "within range" in a long hard race. Not strong enough to keep up (yet) when the big guys go full throttle, but he was in the select group behind Pogacar until 2k from the finish. There have been upcoming riders in the past, that completely fail at their first big test. There was a bit of fear the length would be too much, but he took care of that concern. The way he rode today, he could have won last year. This definitely shows promise for the future. Next year he will have had a GT behind him and he will come back stronger.

Yes. There was a moment where he went back to his car and he was shaking all over his body. I believe they gave him a bag of hot tea. He got better at the end but was still missing for the last push. But like Wvv said..eight is not bad
