There are perils and probable embarresement of being far too attached to a particular rider’s exploits as your reason to be a fan of the sport.

What ever happened to Justice?
This feels more like Twilight fan site right now…

Really? It's absolutely horrible. At least I'm not alone... (plus a friend of mine has it too.)

A wee bit of advice. Get the tissues/chocs/wine in and get a couple of your best friends round for support on judgement day;)

Seriouslythough, I hope I'm wrong.

Thanks. I too hope you're wrong though. It'd be a shame.

 Would that make more sense? Where? How? When?

From the point of view that they lack common sense. If there's a right thing to do, and a wrong thing to do, ...

Cycle racing, particularly at the highest levels, has completely painted painted itself into a corner. They permitted this stuff to go on forever without getting serious about it. If anyone thinks this is a 'Contador problem' they may be on some drugs themselves! :)

Along comes the Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods of cycling and they are stuck on the horns of a dilemma of their own creation. Ban him (hypocritically), and relegate the sport to even greater anonymity or not ban him (and thumb their nose at their own rules, which they've been doing for decades).

Either decision is pointless now because the sport has lost all integrity. But I think this guy is a lot more similar to Tiger Woods than hardcore cycling fans realize because the hardcore people are going to watch regardless if he is there or not. He brings a fan base all his own that is not going to pay any attention to a race he isn't a part of. Is it going to be a night and day difference? I doubt it. Golf is surviving after the Woods fiasco, but the excitement level without him on top of his game is different. I am going to take some arrows, but given the fact that banning one bad apple only leaves about ....ohhh 99% of the peloton as bad apples... it's a hard thing to do in his case.

Again, if the sport hadn't forfeited its integrity long ago, it would be a simple decision to ban him, but then again, if it hadn't done so, would he (and the rest of the peloton) be doping?

I'm sure CAS will take all of that into account.

My Spanish isn't flawless, so correct me if I'm wrong, but in this article Flavio Becca says he thinks the Israeli judge might be biased because the Saxobank team camp was held in Israel and that he thinks everything was already decided beforehand.

Basically

- he think is not good an israeli judge because his team went to israel for training and even received by Israel's goverment.

- Becca didn't hide his desire of a ban for Contador

- And he thinks all the case is fixed or rigged "That's the truth. It can't have an israeli jugde, went to do pre season in Israel and received by the goberment. I think I'm right."

Not very cautious Mr. Becca above all when he is being investigated by police. But I understand him, "the best team ever" can not afford not to win the Tour.

Thanks for a correct translation. :)

It's along the same lines as I've understood it, just a bit more extensive.

What a moron. Of course he wants Alberto banned. As you said, they can't afford to lose.

He has a point though

Yes - Becca is trying to put pressure on the Israeli judge .... just like Saxo are trying to influence the Israeli judge by having their camp there in the first place.

The judge was decided LONG before the training camp was scheduled.

They are all playing games here .....

So, according to Becca having a training camp in Israel is tantamount to bribery.

I find it ironic someone affiliated with Johan Bruyneel is taking such umbrage at the shenanigans of Bjarne Riis, when all Riis is doing is playing the game as it's been established by the master, "The Hog" himself.

You better believe that cycling school Riis is helping to establish in Israel has already paid for the favorable vote of the Israeli judge.

And here I was wondering the whole time what an odd place to have a training camp-not that there's anything wrong with Israel, but I don't believe a pro cycling team has ever held an official training camp there.

Now I understand why they went.

i think becca talks from his hunch rather than hard knowledge.

likely he's interpreting the panel's legal motions when the sides fight for blocking or allowing certain types of evidence and witnesses. he can't know the decision b/c the panel members don't know themselves until they vote...becca says he thinks it is 2/1due to the vote of the panel's president.

may be, may be not.

let's not forget that contador's selection for the panel was an arbiter who has a record of voting pro-authorities and against the spanish.

forgot to remind that the israeli arbiter was chosen by the other 2 arbiters and contador had nothing to do with his selection. he does btw speak perfect spanish though i dont know how it has anything to do with his position on the facts of the case...

Becca is doing everything he can to protect his investment, if Frandy don't win this year then i suspect Becca and his wallet will walk. Becca knows that if Berto lines up at the start in Liege in the condition he did at the Giro this year team Frandy is stuffed.
