Ugh. Please, you've never worked in Marketing. The script reads:

Contador: Oh Noes! Pat couldn't make the positive go away! I need another plan.

[phone rings] Hola Jose. Si. No esta bien. All that money paid to Hein and they screw up hiding my positive. At least I don't have to listen to the bruja over at ASO complain about their precious race.

That's good idea Jose! We can blame it on the steak. I will tell our lawyer. Tell RFEC that's the plan. Adios, muchas gracias.

They have the receipt. Just like they have the receipt for the Sysmex machine. But CN were not allowed to take a copy of the Sysmex receipt.

Did we ever see a copy of the steak receipt?

Or was that too transparent?

The EU has excellent meat supply safety so tracing it to a supplier is likely. No one ever wanted the lie to get that far anyway. This promotion seals the deal.

CAS's finding only added to the farce. You may not recall that CAS just pulled their source of the Clenbuterol out of thin air claiming it was from a tainted supplements. Only Contador's side discredited this possibility.

Oh I read the transcript, twice. Someone mentioned elsewhere the chef had the receipt.

Well then, let's see it!?

I wonder just how hard it would be to come up with a receipt for a contaminated steak.

About as difficult as coming up with a post-dated prescription for cortisone to treat imaginary saddle sores.

+1

remember the time it took them to 'find' the receipt.
when contador announced his defence (i.e. the steak-tale), the receipt hadn't been 'found' yet.
and who keeps the receipt of a piece of meat anyway?
this one was fabricated, indeed, very much like the post-dated TUE.

Someone who's hoping Astana would pay the bill, I imagine. The official version is not that López Cerrón bought the steak as a gift, and he expected to get a refund.

I still think the question of whether or not the steak existed is largely irrelevant. You don't need to resolve it in order to tear down the contaminated steak theory. Traceability in the UE is pretty strong, the shop owner wouldn't cooperate with Contador on this. I think it's likely the steak itself existed.

Ugh. And how long did that ridiculous excuse go back and forth with posts that wanted to belive in Contador, or the UCI or something to do with preserving some aspect of that TdF?

The fact the guy got a promotion should drive a few more Pro cycling fans away. But, it seems like there's a percentage that likes being mocked by the sport's organizers.

Still getting magazine covers.
