Cracks in the "Castle of 7" walls

:D Going to be a BIG news day:

Nike Statement on Lance Armstrong
"Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner.

Nike plans to continue support of the Livestrong initiatives created to unite, inspire and empower people affected by cancer."

Lance Armstrong stepping down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer charity
"Lance Armstrong said Wednesday he is stepping down as chairman of his Livestrong cancer-fighting charity so the group can focus on its mission instead of its founder's problems."

I'd only just read:
"In response to the offensive allegations in today's New York Daily News, Nike vehemently denies that it paid former UCI president Hein Verbruggen $500,000 to cover up a positive drug test. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs."
From http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/kathy-lemonds-sca-deposition-details-revealed and thought that if Nike wanted to defend themselves against the bribe with such an unequivocal statement, their continuing support of LA was untenable.

Great stuff :D

With him losing a major sponsor like Nike, and him stepping down as leader of his main organization, it's only natural now for UCI to strip him down to the bare bones. I also think Oakley and Trek with follow suit to dump this junkie.

The Lance Armstrong empire is crumbling big time, and we are witnessing it!

It's over ,..

Hmmm. not yet. Remember Bush's "Mission Accomplished"?

It'll be over when Lance no longer has any financial connections to Livestrong, nor to Nike. Including all the various legal entities that he has holdings in. And that will continue until he is legally forced to do so.

And the first step would be to no longer see Lance in Livestrong events, etc, nor being associated with any Livestrong branding (how do you do that I wonder)?

So actually a bit of a public show more than anything else. IMHO.

And then there is the broader issue of paying back. And UCI. And doping in cycling more broadly. So really only the beginning, not the end... But a good start nevertheless...

python ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT :D

i could not care less. it was always an abused entity to cover up his frauds.

i have only one - no two - wishes left. the uci confirming the usada verdict, and right after, that, imploding for a total overhaul.

only then, I will quit.

Does this mean he owes Nike? A lawsuit in the horizon...?

His isolation is almost complete. :)

Never thought I could imagine it happening, but Armstrong will HAVE to make some sort of confession now, however limited.

If he doesn't he'll never be able to make any kind of public appearance without being bombarded by hostile questioning.

I looked at the Livestrong site 1 or 2 days ago, and there was already only the bare mention of LA: notice at the bottom of the page saying that 'Livestrong' was the registered trademark of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and a single webpage two layers of links in called "Lance's story". The merchandise also doesn't carry any references to LA.

Nah, in light of the decent bribe allegations I imagine they're glad with throwing Lance under the bus, but they have no intention of driving that bus themselves. Ugly stuff could come out.

Nike are a bunch of B******* if they feel sorry that they need to terminate the contract of someone who took them for a ride!

Ars*h*les!

It sends cold shivers up and down my spine. The unthinkable happened. Now i think he will confess. Of course with lots of excusses and blaming others. But he´ll do it, to save (a little bit) face.

He will NEVER confess.....he and his entourage still have more to lose by telling the truth that by lying.

Unless.....his mother and kids compel him to do so for their sake. Then maybe.

He WILL confess. At one point it'll be more profitable for him to confess than to keep lying, and at the current rate it won't take him more than a couple of years.
