Having raced on the circuit many times, I can confirm that the course is 'grippy' to say the least. Should be a good race.

Sadly, I'm not riding this year

Hey Boomcie, there's a start to everything.

Look at the results he got as a U23. Just at the Ronde de l'Isard, lately.

Remember Van Goolen? Why not Roelandts lol.

Van Goolen was just a really promising rider when he was young. If he would have won the National title in 2003 (he was 2nd) that would have been the start of... nothing.

Roelandts already has a better palmares, because he won actual races as a pro.

The route in Hooglede isn't as easy as it seems. Apparently there's cobbles too.

There's Gitsberg & Hoogledeberg.
Don't know them myself. Gitsberg are cobbles, Hoogledeberg shorter and steeper.

The route in Hooglede isn't as easy as it seems. Apparently there's cobbles too.

Is there any TV coverage of this? The web site says nothing. Google keeps giving me the Pro Cycling event in August. It would be nice to watch. Versus and NBCU web sites are pretty useless these days.

Although the country no longer exists? Or will it be the Curacao National Championships?

I'll go with Busche for America in the RR. It seems they will be the strongest team there, RS/ Garmin and Radioshack have just won a big physcological battle at the TOC so i don't expect someone from Garmin to win unless Farrar somehow clings on. The team that wins the yr before usually wins again the next yr but with a different rider. Garmin have already got the 2 most important national jerseys anyway with Bobridge and C. Meyer. I'll go with LTD for the Dutch one too.

British Champs used to be a brilliant race before Sky. That said last year's circuit was unusually very hard and so the Sky guys kicked ****. A flatter circuit gives the other big teams like Rapha, Motorpoint, Raleigh etc a chance

It should come down to a Radioshack/Garmin battle with BMC getting their say. Look for Big George to give his all to get another win in his hometown and the course suits him well. I am going to take David Zabriske for another time trial win.

Um, SFW? Every Nats is going to be different. USA is relatively lucky that because of their size, they have a lot of teams and riders.

What about the Brazilian and Columbian National Championships? I thought they had been held also.

Looking at the Beligian course I can't help thinking that Wouter could have done well here. Anyway I think they should make this years race a tribute to his memory.

I think Sky will dominate again this year to be honest. 122miles, 196km is a long race, and add to it, that the domestic teams, rapha, motorpoint, endura etc will have all been riding 1hr criteriums for the previous 5 weeks.

This is one of the critisism Dean Downing made last year, was riding that lumpy course when you have been riding 1hr crits for the previous 6 weeks just didnt work. They hadnt been doing endurance racing.

The Tour series is great, but 5 weeks of crit racing really isnt the ideal prep for a 200km race when you are going up against top level pro's who have been doing stage racing.

Should be going to the british nationals, it being only about 20 miles or so north of us.

Eh? Have you moved? I thought you were in the South-West.

Hard to see anyone else but a Sky rider winning. But it would be interesting to see how it pans out with Cavendish in the bunch on Swift's wheel and Blythe or other sprinter in the breakaway.

Early prediction: the winner to come from South Yorkshire.
