What is with everybody saying that Gilbert has done so so much races this year? He has done about the same amount of races as EVERYBODY else, no more, no less. He has just shone in the races and won more. But you can't say that he has done alot of races, because everybody else that he competes with right now have done the same amount of races and have the same amount of tiredness.

yeah, but Gilbert goes FTW in almost every race he entered. And almost never softpeddaled. There's a difference between racing FTW all the time, and only racing FTW in half the races you enter and using the other half as training rides.

Eh, riders don't race the same amount of races and there can be large differences.

Why did you highlight only Gilbert and Contador? Not the ones that did 15 race days more? Anyways I took my information from cqranking.com. It obviously sucks and I won't say anything else anymore based on CQ, my apologies.

To highlight the fact that there can be significant differences in days/kms races. Doesn't matter who I highlight. (They were the first 2 riders.) Samu Sanchez 66 days, Cancellara 87 days.
So, in Giro di Lombardia, Gilbert will race against guys like Sanchez and Cunego who have around 20 less race days, but also guys like van Avermaet who has raced about as much as Gilbert.
*Shrug* not sure how much it will matter in these cases.

Gilbert wins the tt champs in belgium? Give me a break....

Not that surprising as it may seem first, he beat Cornu and Hermans in both Eneco Tour time trials as well. Monfort had a flat tire.

Devolder was TT champ last year. It is hardly surprising that Gilbert could win. The country is hardly known for its fantastic TTers

Some countrys are " TT " countrys and some aren't just the way it is. One thing I always thought would be very interesting would be a 5 or 6 man 50k international road TTT. Who do u think would win , maybe between Aus or Germany?

The US would be close, as would GB.

The Dutchies could also make it on the podium I guess. With Clement, Boom, Tjallingii, Terpstra, Posthuma, Westra and Van Emden they could make a decent team.

With most countries you can get to 4. Becomes a bit of a struggle after that

I rekon that's what would make it exciting. I mean how many countries could name 4 top quality timetrialist? I would say Aus, US, Germany, GB and Holland. So adding the extra couple riders on would even it out.

Monfort, Rosseler, Hermans, Cornu, Devolder, Van den Broeck (U23 WC), Roelandts (3th in ENECO final TT), De Ghendt (4th in TdF final TT) ... and Gilbert. Probably not best in the world, but France, Italy and even Spain will have a hard time beating a team from these guys. US, UK and Germany are better.

Yeah but I find it hard to believe that a guy like PG would win a TT championship. The fact that Monfort had a flat indicates why he won.

Spain have Castraviejo(probably misspelled), Lulu, Guttierez and Contador. Especially Contador and Lulu makes them better. Although Lulu sucks these days.
