Yeah I think with G there would have been a better showing. What do you think of Wiggins plans to ride the tour next year and then ride the pursuit & time trial at the olympics.

in the slipstream of Cancellara who left 5 minutes after him

Bradley Wiggins (Sky Pro Cycling) said: "This is all part of the build up to the Tour de France, and the plan today was to win for the team. The three of us were all equally strong, but on the last lap Peter [Kennaugh] attacked and G [Geraint Thomas] stupidly pulled it back and I just went over the top.

joão cabreira wins the portuguese nationals beating mario costa (rui costa's borther) on the sprint. weird as i saw a lot of people saying the course was mostly flat and cabreira is a guy for the mountains.

no full results so far.

He's starting to look quite skinny on those cheeks, he'll be good at the Tour

Yeah, looking proper lean :)

I guess Peta Todd may have something to do with that..!

Knowing the roads around Pataias-where the nationals took place-I can reassure you this was a flat course. Personally, I was expecting a sprinter to win. But sometimes wind blows strong over there, so a sucessfull big breakaway wouldn't surprise me either. I'm curious to see how it unfolded.

seems like no team had the strength to keep the peloton together so cabreira and costa attacked on the last lap and were able to keep the sprinters away by 6 secs.

i don't dislike cabreira but was hoping for some1 younger with no doping background to win this year. i am surprised manual cardoso didn't race, maybe he could have taken this one. it would have been a much better champion imo

F! João Cabreira.

What the hell is he even doing on the road. His ban was supposed to run until January 2012. After all that sample-tampering, riding and being cleared and riding again.

For those of you who don't know the Portuguese scene, this is like if Valverde suddenly arrived back on the scene a couple of months ago with no real satisfactorily explanation for why being given.

Wiggins looks scary thin! Nice job nonetheless, hope he hasn't peaked too soon.

You're such a genius...

Anyway, very cool winner. Dekker_T predicted it, because he wrote a piece about him in the winter.
Sour grape.
I never said I predicted him. I just find it funny he performs so well this year after I wrote an article about him when nobody knew him and people were saying I waisted my time with that.

Stop misinterpreting my posts.

Kennaugh launches his attack;
How many times has he podiumed in the nationals now!!?

Four years in a row. I suggested after last year that they turn it into a Derny race and allow him to tow the leader to the finish on a motorbike.
