Been riding more 17km to work and back each day this week. My work hours are from 6am to 4.30pm, so I have no time to do a proper ride. Maybe on Friday if I have don't have to work.

It sucks pretty badly.

Stage 4, 109 km with a couple of climbs - 2.5 km at 7 % and 5.5 km at 4.6 %. Was blowing a gale today, helped me on the first half of the ride, killed me on the way back. Average speed 30.8.

You must ride at a pretty high level?

No, not really. Came into cycling fairly recently. Yet to win my first race (insist on racing elite, not masters:cool:). Been a pro water polo player for years before that.
Good on flat, not so good going uphill (at 87 kg and 45 old not a surprise:)).

Did stage 5 today: 86 km with 4 short sharp climbs 1 000-1400 m at 9-11%.
Average speed 30.1.

Well I'm pretty sure I've fallen off the back in both miles and speed. I did hit the cobbles (slowly) on Tuesday and I have a lot of admiration for those guys who race on that surface.

Last night only got out for about 45 minutes before darkness. Today I'm back on the commute with a nice sub one hour commute on the way in. Looking for a sub two hour total for 35 miles of city riding.

stage 5

28.8 16.9mph avg 928ft of climbing.

There was a small section of cobbles on our usual Thursday ride. As I sit here watching the replay of the Tour tonight, I hear Tyler rode the cobbled section with one hand to save his broken wrist...to me that is amazing.

Just returned from the alps yesterday. So here's what I've got so far:

Prologue: 99 km, including the last three climbs of Sundays' stage.
Stage 1: 77 km, including Col de Joux Plane and Col de l'Encrenaz.
Stage 2: a) 74 km, including Col de la Colombière. b) 27 km, including the ascend from Cluses to Romme.
Stage 3: 80 km, mostly flat.
Stage 4: 1526 km TdF 1904-style (by train :)).
Stage 5: 21 km commuting
Stage 6: 21 km commuting

I'm afraid stage 7 and 8 will be restdays for me.

P: 8 MTB
1: 25
2: 27 w/rain
3: 10 w/cobbles
4: 10
5: 35 < 2 hours. Made lights and had wind on the way home.
6: 35 > 2 hours. I sucked.

Not too impressive, but much better than I had been to this point of the summer.

Stage 8

106.4 miles 19.3 avg

Did the ACS cancer ride today, had a pace line of about 30 or so of us going around 30 miles an hour at one point(stupid of us going that fast on a charity ride), nasty crash in the middle of it. Glad I avoided it, my friend was right in the middle of it.
