I would like to know what contador and kloden were chatting about all along... I'm guessing they both thought the schlecks were more dead than they were and maybe kloden over estimated how good he was feeling

That is what I would guess. Both Shreks look like they are hurting, but that it just their style. They were able to respond to Contador well enough.
