Fading means he's not doing nearly as well as he was. In the first 18kms he gained 20 seconds. In the next seven kms he lost 22.

Really? So I said he'd fade and he did. Then he gained time on the ascent. wow, what a surprise. I totally did not see that coming

And now he'll lose time on the descent because it's wet and because he tends to fade a little bit. wow, that's also going to surprise me tremendously
