Looks like the russian had settled for Bronze long before the finish and agreed to tow them in - wonder if she actually did a deal not to be dropped earlier even.

Great result!

I think she did actually attack with 1,6 to go, but that was literally all she had left. After that then she probably figured "if I don't tow them, they're looking at each other and we might get caught. If I tow them, I'll only get bronze, but I'll get an Olympic medal"... She initiated the attack, she held on to the group, and she didn't come into the race with the same form as Vos and Armitstead, nor would she expect to win a sprint with them, she'll be pretty damn happy with the bronze, no need to cut a deal.

She no way she was gonna beat them both in sprint or attack, so silver would be highest achievable. However, with upsetting front group she would risk losing everything. She chose for certain bronze.

Vos attacked about 10 times during the race, pushed a high pace in the break for about 40k and then won the sprint without much problem. That was domnation on another level.

Btw, props to Armitstead. Behind Vos she was clearly the strongest today and silver was well deserved.

It's a good job for Team GB that Armistead won as Lucy Martin was completely anonymous and dropped at the first opportunity, not picking Laws would've looked very different had the final break not had Armistead in.

I've witnessed Vos racing from when she was about 14. Cyclo Cross, starting behind the boys, and catching most of them. If was not hard to tell how special a talent she was. In MTB, she won a national seniors event at 15, I seem to recall. Had to quit speed skating and MTB and stick to "only" road, TT, track and çross.
Amazingly modest lady. Often she shows up to bike races while on a training rides, saying hi to everyone. Like she won her first-ever race a week ago. While in fact she's the greatest of all time. Name a handful of succesful men, she's got the combined palmares of them. Most undervalued athlete in the world.
