First of all, how dumb can you get? To send/order this stuff by mail for it to pass through customs (while knowing international shipments have a very high rate of being opened in Belgium, or is this a set up?). The "i own a farm" excuse is too obvious and surely as an ex-pro, even if it WERE for his animals, he should know better.

Secondly, the only connection he has with OLO, or so it seems, is that he rides their VIP bus for one week during te TDF. He could be in contact with anyone in the TDF during this time.

Thirdy, i wouldn't be convinced this is for either Gilbert (although the most obvious candidate) or JVDB. The stuff came from Australia. Who was Van Sevenant's former (Australian) team leader?

And lastly, i wonder why team managers haven't massively started importing dope by postorder addressed to their competitors teams yet :eek:

to the bold, because they don't take the risks themselves, they let riders do it or ex riders in this case, but yes it is a good point about trying to sabotage another team with a delivery to a team hotel during the tour, but if it gets back to them it could end their career. Look at Bruyneel's quick exit during the Giro. Like a rat out of an aqueduct....

Yeah but if the officials come out and say "Nope, it's totally illegal doping products, not amino acids. We checked. Here, see the lab report" Wim is going to look quite silly. If that's the case, it'd be better to think of an excuse that will work for longer than two hours.

Well, the mantra whenever there is a first report of doping anywhere, in any form, is "Deceive, Inveigle, Obfuscate"... And secondly OPL are now, as we speak, unsheathing their hatchets and manning the trenches. They don't care is Vansevenant looks silly, as long as he can't be connected with Gilbert and VDB2...

At any rate, this lie I (which I assume it is) will buy OPL a week, maybe two, to try and cover any tracks they have left.

From the latest CN article on it:

"Two weeks ago customs officials at Brussels airport found a package, addressed to Vansevenant from Australia, containing thousands of dollars of doping products designed to increase muscle mass and performance."

Fairly expensive amino acids?

What bothers me is that this is all too easy. The first time they bust him, is two weeks before the TDF. He orders by international mailorder, while if you have ever imported something from outside the EU, you know that Belgian customs have a high rate of opening packages. At least that shows it can't be a long time thing, because they would have caught him a lot sooner. He doesn't even use the "it's for my farm animals" excuse, but flat out denies that he ordered those meds. I'm not jumping to conclusions because it's obvious we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet. But it sure seems that whoever orchestrated this, isn't the smartest of the bunch.

TB 500, made for horses

find info about it on bodybuilder websites
big set costs 2500 USD, but I guess you can't feed a whole team with it

probably not so upsetting after all

Apparently the product is TB-500, mostly used in horse racing to improve muscle mass and endurance. Does anyone know more about this product?

He also declares he didn't buy it for the animals on his farm (or other cyclists of course). The story doesn't seem to contradict that they are amino acids... yet i am no expert on the matter and don't know if this type of dope could be amino acid.

He claims he didn't know they were prohibited. (Duh) He claims it was a small dose. Had bought them once before.

This article doesn't say how much or what the value of the package was.

The first articles mentioned 'thousands of euros'. If you go to the website you see a big package costs 2500 USD.

If it wasn't for the price, it seems to be a good choice, though, with bodybuilders honestly thinking it is the legal alternative to GH/steroids.

Lets demystify some of easily verifiable facts.

(i) the investigated product was ordered NOT from an underground lab (as the cn article implies) but from a legitimate australian company:

(ii) there is NO secret distribution network but a legitimate export PERMIT NUMBER -PER11688, issued by the australian government

all the above does not mean that some other belgian or wada laws haven't been broken.
