This was carved in 1950. I traded a a small mahogany secretary for it. I had it appraised about 20 years ago and retail value was $400USD even it's rough condition. But I would never sell it. It's my lucky poker chair!

What type of wood is it? Doesn't look half bad, the chair and the room in general.
Seeing the edges of the room, I gather it's the very straight room that you've set the bed in or is every single room crooked.

Don't know what kind of wood or who carved it. It was carved in 1950 and my friends mother acquired it as I believe as a gift from the carver. It was carved in the Los Angeles Area so I'm guessing oak

with the TV on the wall I'll be able to see it from the kitchen. And with the coffee maker and toaster on the table it will free up counter space in the kitchen.

good place for my cook books. I hope to start writing my own cookbook/videoblog soon after the house is a little more in order

Kitchen looks flash and potentially may look even better but one question, is that small shelf in the far left corner easy to access without getting knocked on the other shelf which seems to be just in front of it.

This did not turn out well. I am very disappointed. This is the first of their work that wasn't first rate. this is not even 2nd rate. But I have an idea to save it.

I wanted a rustic look but not necessarily something hewn with an axe

It will not stay like this. but it should look similar.
Going to laminate some thin strips to the top of the door to make it rounder and do the same to the door jam and build it down. then some dirt and ashes rubbed in and it will be acceptable and a great story to tell for years to come. I would go crazy trying to make this like a US house. I would have to level this place and start with a square and level foundation. The flaws give the house character.

The door seems fine in the first photo. Improvised door frame? It's looks way too small in the previous page.

It still seems decent, though not perfect, to me.
